The project assistant provides operational support to all project activities of the Representation and will work under the general guidance of the FAOR Kenya and the direct supervision of the Assistant FAOR (Programme), Assistant FAOR (Admin)the TCE focal point (for TCE projects)  and the project coordinator with full collaboration with all relevant partners.

The Project Assistant will provide programme support functions in the following areas:
·         Assist identifying procurement needs and compilation of specification requirements for procurement of materials, goods equipment; and services as per the FAO guidelines.
·         Assist in drafting of Contracts and Letters of Agreement to be issued for services with partners
·         Updating and maintaining the project’s information management system. Ensuring timely submission of monthly budget and expense reports (B&Es), working to identify and resolve problems with project accounts, and troubleshooting problems with financial transactions as assigned.
·         Assist in drafting a monitoring and evaluation framework for the project, including specific indicators and ensure the framework is being implemented;
·         Organizing all missions, link consultants and contractors to the Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Government of Kenya;
·         Assisting in the review of assessments carried out;
·         Assisting in the collection of relevant information, through assessment missions and other data-collection exercises to support the information component of the project;
·         Organizing all training courses and workshops foreseen in the  project document;
·         Liaising with all stakeholders linked to this project;
·         Assist in the preparation of  project reports, project monitoring and evaluation, project budgeting, communication, organization of workshops and meetings;
·         Ensuring visibility of the project by providing regular updates on project implementation to all stakeholders involved in close collaboration with the information specialist;
·         Assisting in communication of project results and lessons learned in appropriate platforms and workshops;
·         Assisting the project team in developing a framework for follow-up activities;
·         Liaising with donors in relation to follow-up activities;
·         Carrying out any other duties and activities as may be requested by the FAO Representative.
Qualification Requirement:
The candidate should hold a University degree in Agriculture and/or related field, a combination of relevant specialized training in project management and Programme operations
Experience
·         Strong background on agricultural development projects.
·         At least 3 (three) years proven experience in project support and experience in outreach work.
·         The candidate should have at least eight years’ experience in working with international aid agencies in a similar position
Language
Working level C of the FAO official language (English) used for communication within the country and should be fluent in spoken and written Kiswahili
IT Skills
·         Ability to effectively use MS office (Windows, Word Outlook Excel, PowerPoint, Exchange).
·         Ability to effectively use project management software and other information systems.
Work management Skills
·         Good understanding of the purpose and functions of the technical programme, systematic and efficient approach to work assignments and good judgement and analytic ability
Interpersonal Communications and Teamwork skills
The incumbent must possess a cooperate spirit, flexibility and openness to work in an international environment. Tact, courtesy, cultural empathy and a high level of trustworthiness are essential personal attributes.
Desirable
·         Specialized training in project management and Programme operations;
·         Familiarity with FAO and/or UN field Programme management procedures and guidelines.
