Job 008: Social Media Manager

The Social Media Manager is responsible for providing Creative Edge clients with the advantages of new media along with social interaction. He/she will implement the Clients’ Social Media Strategies, developing brand awareness, generating inbound traffic and encouraging product adoption.

He/she will coordinate with the Clients’ internal Marketing and PR teams to support their respective missions, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating a social media referral network.

  • At least 2 years of progressively more responsible positions in online marketing, advertising and public relations.
  • Community Management experience a plus
  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism and/or Business Management.
  • Any other IT or Marketing related qualification is an added advantage
Skills, Knowledge and Characteristics:

These are the most important qualifications of the individual selected as the Social Media Manager.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective users (Facebook, Digg, Youtube, Twitter, Flickr etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios
  • In depth Knowledge of a wide variety of blogging ecosystems
  • Have a good knowledge of principles of SEO
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a clearly defined social media strategy, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure its effectiveness and encouraging adoption
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, plan, organise, manage and contribute to social media channels to reach the set targets and objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage social media campaigns on a day-to-day basis. Duties include online advocacy, writing editorial, community-outreach efforts, promotions, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a Blogger outreach program and build an active brand ambassador network to spread the word about the Client
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret insights gained from social media monitoring to the Clients’ Marketing and Editorial teams, to help them evolve their strategies in a timely fashion
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and interpret social media trends
  • Strong Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Clearly articulates ideas and thoughts verbally.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people
  • Must be able to handle pressure well. Ability to work long hours, especially under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage each client's job(s) and proactively interact with the client to identify any new business opportunities in the Social sphere.
  • Demonstrated ability to Initiate new jobs from existing clients
  • Commitment to continuous learning. Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies. Continuously applies knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients.
  • Very strong computer skills with knowledge of email, word processing and spreadsheets especially using the Microsoft suite of products.
