Oracle Database Administrator

Job Profile

Reporting to the ICT Manager, the job holder will take a lead role in Oracle database administration whilst ensuring that the implementation of Information Technology resources is aligned with the Corporation’s mission, goals and strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take a lead role in Oracle database administration and other corporate databases.

  • Implement and support central business applications including Oracle E-business suite, document management systems, tank gauging system amongst others.
  • Compliance and adherence to statutory requirements concerning information management such as audit, risk management, copyright and freedom of information.
  • Enforce effective security of information on application and database systems within the Corporation’s infrastructure.
  • Liaise with the ICT Manager in the implementation of the Corporate ICT strategy, supporting policies and defining standards associated with information management.
  • Establish monitoring processes for the various business applications and databases which provide accurate, pertinent and timely information to manage investments in information and associated resources.
Requirements
  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline from a reputable University.
  • Must be an Oracle certified professional.
  • Be proficient in Oracle database administration and management, patching, cloning and backups.
  • Have at least three to five years experience with Oracle DBA tools, Oracle Developer and Oracle PL/SQL scripting.
  • Have strong knowledge of the Oracle E-business Suite Architecture and its development standards and implementation methodologies with experience in a busy work environment.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge and experience of PC operating systems and core applications, LINUX, UNIX and windows OS, internet services, systems engineering and support.
  • Experience in design, implementation and commissioning of Company wide ERP systems will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and appreciation for all aspects of ICT through progressive involvement and application of ICT to business processes.
