KAA Airstrips Civil Engineer Job in Kenya

Our client, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), is a State Corporation established under the Kenya Airports Authority Act (Cap 395), whose mandate is to construct, operate and maintain aerodromes, as well as provide such other amenities and facilities for passengers and other persons making use of the services or other facilities so provided within Kenya.

KAA is looking to recruit a 
Civil Engineer - Airstrips.

The Civil Engineer - Airstrips reports to Manager Maintenance & Standards.

Job Purpose: To plan, design, prepare tender documentation and carries out construction supervision for maintenance of airstrips and liaises with relevant Government bodies and stakeholders.

Job Profile
  • To prepare and design airstrips civil engineering developments / improvements in line with the GOK guidelines for review and approval.
  • Participates in preparation of the Engineering department budget proposals to ensure that engineering works are planned.
  • Prepares tender documentation for tendering.
  • To liaise with relevant Government, Contractors, Consultants and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective performance of the project works.
  • Provides leadership to the airstrips maintenance teams and the other stakeholders directly involved.
  • Undertakes projects supervision in line with work plans.
  • Ensures quality assurance measures are followed for compliance with set standards of the civil works for aviation facilities.
  • Receives and evaluates project fee notes for approval.
  • Maintains records of the civil works project cycle at all stages from inception to the end.
  • Prepares Airstrips status reports and regularly advises management on changing trends and progress.
  • Ensure project close out in line with the project agreement
  • To liaise with the respective ministry on maintenance of Airstrips and ensure that Airstrips are serviceable as planned
  • Monitor Airstrips budget and ensure its timely and efficient utilization as planned.
Person Profile
  • University Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience 3 of which must have been gained as a Resident Engineer or an Assistant Resident Engineer on a busy civil engineering project
  • Must be conversant with Government Procurement and Disposal Act and the laid down procurement procedures
  • Must be duly registered with Engineers Registration Board as a Registered Engineer in the field of Civil Engineering and possess valid practicing licenses for the last three years
  • Knowledge and application of Engineering software(s)
