Job Title: Field Monitor Assistants
Duty Station: Kakuma and Dadaab
Post Grade: SC4 (Service Contract)
Accountabilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Snr. Programme Assistant/Programme Officer and the overall supervision of the Head of the Sub-Office, the Field Monitor Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Assist in organising food distributions.
·         Monitor the WFP bi-weekly food distributions in the camps in close collaboration with the implementing partners, verifying proper distribution of weighed entitlements at the distribution site and providing feedback on the distribution of food and non-food items as required.
·         Actively participate in designing and building capacities of the cooperating partners’ staff and various community leadership groups.
·         In collaboration with the implementing partners, ensure a gender responsive distribution system.  Ensure women/girls have direct access to their food entitlement and distribution sites have separated shades for women.
·         Under the guidance of the Snr. Programme Assistant/Programme Officer, assist in conducting regular meetings with refugee leaders and implementing partners on the commodity pipeline, distribution arrangements, food entitlements and other relevant issues.
·         In collaboration with the Snr. Programme Assistant/Programme Officer and cooperating partners, undertake Post Distribution Monitoring as per the agreed schedule and provide input for the ensuing report.
·         Regularly monitor WFP targeted programme activities in the camp including school feeding, selective feeding, FFA and other activities, using standard checklists; prepare necessary reports and action points for sharing with the cooperating partners.
·         Report to the Snr. Programme Assistant/Programme Officer on relevant events regarding food management, distribution and other related issues and ensure that all necessary reports are prepared accurately and submitted on a timely basis.
·         Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential: Successful completion of secondary school education (KCSE) plus additional education in social services, nutrition, agriculture or other related field.
Desirable: University degree in social sciences, economics, nutrition or other related field. Knowledge/experience in nutrition will be an added advantage.

Experience: At least three years’ progressively responsible work experience including at least one year in the field of food aid management, refugee operations, nutrition, community work, agriculture or other related field.

Knowledge: Training and/or experience in using computers including Word, Excel and other software used by WFP.
Strong inter-personal skills; courtesy, tact and the ability to work and communicate effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.  Ability to interpret and analyse a wide variety of programme issues and statistical information, and to maintain accurate and precise records.  Ability to work systematically, use initiative, good judgement and to communicate complex matters both orally and in writing; proven ability to work in a team environment and achieve common goals.
Language: Good written and spoken English and fluent Kiswahili.
