Sr. Technical Advisor Nutrition – Health
Location: Lilongwe, Malawi
Contract Duration: 2 years
Reporting to the Country Director
The Tiwalere OVC project is a five-year public- private partnership providing food security for orphans and vulnerable children, nutrition education, diversification and strengthening of agriculture, capacity building at CBCCs and water and sanitation assistance in the north and central regions of Malawi. Feed The Children is the prime grant holder, and is recruiting for this position.

This position is responsible for leadership, training and providing comprehensive technical guidance to Tiwalere project staff and implementation of nutrition and hygiene education, community growth monitoring of children, supplemental nutrient programs and other supporting interventions in households, CBCCs and the community.
Main Job Responsibilities
·         Nutrition education curriculum development.
·         Creation/selection of the care group nutrition and health training documents.
·         Leading/guiding/monitoring the care group implementation across project partners.
·         Monitoring the acceptance and behavior change of the educational messages.
·         Advise on VitaMeal allocation issues, and complementary local nutrition support.
·         Oversee development of sound family and community gardening program.
·         Oversee implementation of WatSan improvement activities.
·         Oversee growth monitoring program, to achieve high quality results.
·         Develop and provide training for implementation of improved village-practical preparation and cooking preservation of local foods (Tharizi cooking groups).
·         Develop work plans, budgets and facilitate/monitor and support implementation of plans to ensure timely achievement of Tiwalere project targets and results.
·         Preparation of overall project monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
·         In collaboration with the M&E Specialist, lead M&E activities for the nutrition sector including compiling quarterly reports, organize mini KAP surveys and other surveys and participate in review meetings.
·         Interim director responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
·         Master’s Degree majoring in Human Nutrition or Public Health/Nutrition.
·         Five to eight years postgraduate professional experience working with community based nutrition, supplemental feeding and health projects, including excellent knowledge of infant and young child nutrition strategies, preferably in sub Saharan Africa.
·         Significant experience of implementation of the Care Group model will be an added advantage.
·         Strong understanding of community mobilisation, capacity building and behavior change processes and approaches.
·         Strong and demonstrated report writing skills.
·         Experience with community-based nutrition support and supplemental feeding programs.
·         Administrative experience, experience with multi-disciplinary USAID projects a plus.
