The Nairobi Hospital, a leading health care institution in Eastern Africa has the following openings in Engineering and Security.

Hospital Engineer
Ref: HRD/HE/01/11

Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will provide leadership for the biomedical engineering and infrastructure management of the Hospital

The position calls for an Engineer with a unique blend of technical and leadership skills and a service excellence orientation.

Particular Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring all maintenance, biomedical, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering operations within the Hospital run at optimal level.
  • Developing and monitoring the annual maintenance budgets.
  • Developing and implementing planned preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Participating in re-call to work service and attending to emergency breakdowns.
  • Ensuring all plant and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition.
  • Supervising and implementing all construction related capital projects.
  • Liaising with all external construction contractors working in the Hospital.
  • Facilitating the purchase and stocking of appropriate spares/equipment.
  • Providing leadership in training and continuous professional development activities within the Department.
  • Ensuring that the Hospital’s engineering functions comply with medical, certification, legal and safety standards.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board.
  • Six years progressive work experience in a busy service environment.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills.
  • Strong team player
  • Proven track record in project management.
  • Computer literate.
Surveillance Officers
Ref: HRD/SO/01/11

Reporting to the Security Officer, the successful applicants will participate in the daily implementation of The Nairobi Hospital’s integrated security solutions.

Particular Responsibilities Include:
  • Safeguarding the security of patients, visitors, staff and property of the Hospital.
  • Observing, receiving and obtaining information from the e-surveillance system.
  • Documenting, recording and maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form and in a chronological order.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Providing consultation and advice to other departments on various Security matters.
  • Liaising with external parties in the event of emergencies.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures or materials to identify possible causes of security lapses.
  • Coordinating the work and activities of the security foot patrol team to accomplish common tasks.
  • Monitoring and observing all operations within the Hospital premises through the IP CCTV systems for any irregular activities.
  • Ensuring that safety hazards, suspicious activities or incidents of intended breach of security within the Hospital premises are identified, reported, captured, investigated and recorded.
  • Reporting and dispatching available security personnel to incident scenes and continually monitoring the team’s performance at the scene.
  • Conducting investigations and ensuring that proper evidence is acquired, preserved, corroborated and documented.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum O level C+.
  • Diploma in security management or any related field is an added advantage.
  • 2 years progressive work experience in a similar position in a reputable institution.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical skills in security systems installation will be an added advantage.
  • Computer literate.
