Kenya Red Cross Society Institutional Development Manager and Branch Coordinator Jobs

The Society is looking for qualified people to fill the following positions:

Position Title: 
Institutional Development Manager
Reporting to: Head of Regional Capacity Development
Job Location: Headquarters

Overall Purpose

The Institutional Development Manager is charged with the responsibility to plan, implement and coordinate the Society’s Institutional, Regional and Branch development programme in line with the mandate of the Society in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop systems and structures for coordination between Headquarters, Regions and Branches.
  • Identify training needs, plan and organize training programmes for governance at Headquarters, Region and Branch level.
  • Identify training needs for volunteers, plan and organize training programmes and evaluate the same.
  • Evaluate and monitor branch performance as well as compliance to the Constitution as well as other policies and provide such technical support as may be required in interpretation of the same.
  • Compile detailed accurate reports for the National Executive and Development Committees as well as other donors and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with other departments to establish their programmes and relevance to community as well as their impact on branch development.
  • Assist branches in developing and implementing activities including resource mobilization activities.
  • Assist Regions and branches in developing project proposals and in project implementation
  • Establish a data base for all branches including Branch Executive Committee profiles
  • Establish an effective system for the recruitment and management of members and volunteers
  • Design strategies for effective volunteer and membership recruitment and management
  • Supervise other staff working under him/her
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences.
  • Further training in Project Planning and Management or an equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • 4 years experience in similar position with a good knowledge of grassroots, Programme design, management and implementation, communication and networking, monitoring and supervision, report writing and development of policy and other relevant documents.
  • Relevant experience in Organisation Development work and capacity building
Position Title: Branch Coordinator
Reporting to: Regional Manager
Job Location: Karen-Langata

Overall Purpose

Responsible to the Regional Manager for effective coordination of Branch planning, budgeting and coordinating the implementation and delivery of high quality integrated humanitarian services and strengthening the capacity of Branch Governance as well as youth and volunteer development.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the development, implementation of the annual plan and budget under the direction of the Branch Committee
  • Coordinate dissemination of KRCS Volunteer and youth policy and guidelines outlining their recruitment and selection, deployment, training and development in order to achieve a self-sustaining network of volunteers
  • Disseminate KRCS membership policy and guidelines, coordinate elections and build the capacity of Branch management committees to ensure a more accountable and transparent governance
  • Develop and periodically update computerised database information system to ensure that all records and statistics pertaining to the youth, volunteers and members are properly classified and maintained for rapid access and retrieval
  • Coordinate risks mapping and vulnerability capacity assessment activities to plan prepare, respond and mitigate disaster impacts
  • Coordinate implementation of disaster management programmes to effectively respond to natural and man made disasters
  • In consultation with the Region ensure effective resource mobilisation strategies, prepare and submit funding proposals according to donor requirements to supplement local budget allocations
  • Coordinate implementation of capacity building programmes to effectively prepare staff, volunteers and communities to respond to disasters, restore family links as well as put in place systems for community reconstruction and environmental conservation
  • Coordinate implementation of an integrated community-based programmes that includes public health, social services, water and sanitation, disease prevention and control as well as emergency health care management
  • Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of donor funded programmes by staff in order to evaluate progress, ensure accountability determine impact and report significant achievements to ensure organisational learning
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development, Environmental Health, Human Ecology or equivalent qualifications with certificate in project management
  • Over three (3) years experience in planning, implementing and evaluating community-based programmes in emergency/relief context
Key Competencies for both positions
  • Knowledge of humanitarian relief issues, trends and goals at national, regional and international levels, aimed at preventing and alleviating human suffering.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in both English and Kiswahili, including ability to develop reports and prepare relevant publications.
  • Demonstrated competence in resource mobilisation including implementation of effective fundraising strategies to increase resource through grant proposals.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, data-base, email and utilisation of the internet.
