John Deere plans to develop their Central Africa business specifically focusing on East Africa i.e. Kenya. Offices will be based in Nairobi .

The candidates will be a subject matter experts, and as such, have to demonstrate leadership, mentoring and participation in special projects.

Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will initiate and manage business development programs and/or projects.

He will identify new product needs and makes recommendations to senior management; perform analysis to support decision-making and recommendations; support projects that evaluate the market attractiveness and financial risks of existing products.

The following knowledge / technical skills are required:-
  • Understanding of financial modeling and/or marketing concepts.
  • Knowledge of financial metrics and analysis.
  • Successful negotiating and selling skills.
  • Skill in project management.
  • Understanding of economic issues and industry trends that can impact the company.
  • Knowledge of products and services offered by the appropriate area of responsibility.
  • Proficiency in English and Swahili languages will be a prerequisite.
  • Degree in a Business/ Marketing Management or Accounting/Finance discipline.
Area Sales Manager - Finance

The Area Sales Manager (Finance) will grow the usage of finance products and portfolio balances for a given geographic area. He will work with dealers, customers and merchants to arrange and structure financing of products and services provided to customers within the Deere channel or through independent merchants

The following knowledge / technical skills are required:-
  • Knowledge of dealers/merchants/alliance partners, finances programs and products.
  • Successful negotiating and selling skills.
  • Knowledge of dealers and other channel partners.
  • Knowledge of industry appropriate for area of responsibility.
  • Strong Marketing and Sales ability.
  • Understanding of credit products or services and policies.
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in both English and Swahili languages will be a prerequisite.
  • Degree in a Business/Financial Management/Marketing discipline or equivalent experience.
Area Manager - Product Support

The Area Manager: Product Support will be responsible for providing product support to customers and channel partners remotely and in the field through accurate and timely analysis and resolutions.

He will resolve less complex product problems using resource materials, report complex problems to higher levels for resolution, locate existing information from internal sources, author resolutions, bulletins and documentation and provide less complex technical support to field teams and channel partners.

He will also participate in authoring Product Improvement Program installation instructions; participate in less complex failure analysis for product continuous improvement and travel to collect failure data to assist in problem definition on less complex problems.

The ideal candidate should be in possession of a Technical qualification (Diesel or Tractor Mechanic) and have a strong technical and mechanical ability.

Good presentation, interpersonal and communication skills, computer knowledge and dedication to customer excellence are further requirements. A Business / Management / Engineering technology or Agricultural Science qualification will be advantageous.

The following knowledge / technical skills are required:-
  • Knowledge of dealers and other channels.
  • Knowledge of dealer product support capacity and competencies.
  • Understanding of Customer Support Process.
  • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of products, customers, markets and competitors.
  • Proficiency in English and Swahili languages will be a prerequisite.
Territory Manager

The Territory Manager will develop and achieve marketing goals and objectives in a defined geographic area by developing the channel partners, promoting products and services offered by the Company and managing Company assets.

Responsibility of a geographical area will be assigned to the individual together with the responsibility to develop dealers to the level of achieving goals and objectives in line with enterprise goals and objectives. He will identify new product needs and makes recommendations to the Business Development Managers.

His major duties will entail :-
  • Dealer Development;
  • Sales Management;
  • Asset Management;
  • Orders and Estimates Management;
  • Monthly dealer and territory reports.
The following knowledge / technical skills are required:-
  • Knowledge of dealers/merchants/alliance partners, finance programs and products.
  • Broad based business, sales and marketing skills.
  • Knowledge of heavy machinery dealer business practices.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Strong Marketing and Sales ability.
  • Good administrative and computer system abilities
  • Microsoft package knowledge
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Be dedicated to customer excellence
  • Successful negotiating and selling skills.
  • Proficient in both English and Swahili languages.
  • Degree in a Business / Marketing Management or Agricultural Science discipline.
