SEACO posts of Volunteer Leaders in Kenya

SEACO (Sexual Exploitation & Abuse Control Outreach)
Is a recently registered organization ready to make a dynamic change for the good of the society in Kenya and Africa in the near future.


SEACO OBJECTIVE

To lobby and do advocacy in the name of People pertaining to issues related to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.
To offer help, guidance and encouragement to victims of sex exploitation and abuse, i.e. early marriages, rape, female genital mutilation, minors marriages etc.
Ensure that people living with Sexual abuse and exploitation trauma. are treated well and have dignified lives
To train or provide practical skills training for the victims and the society at large (especially school drop outs,) by at least 75% of that number:- 
To assist in the identification, selection and so establishment for the network for the placement, attachment and apprenticeship with good and serious NGO’s and other institutions interested by the same.
To strive towards and improvement of living standards of the beneficiaries, through quality training
 
To provide career guidance/counseling opportunities for the trainees.
To co-operate with the government, mission, religious groups or non-governmental bodies in activities and programs designed to bring about development.
To act as a contact point for the above mentioned institutions.

SEACO is calling for applicants to apply for posts of Volunteer Leaders ( Support Members) in order to see the above objectives and other activities put in plan well implemented the year 2011 on wards.

Desired Qualities And Skills Board Members And Volunteer Leaders 
 
Prospective SEACO Leaders should:
· Want to make a contribution to the Association and society.
· Know and relate strongly to the organization’s mission, purposes, goals, policies, programs, services, strengths, and needs.
· Have expertise or knowledge in organizational and financial management.
· Have expertise in a particular method or field of social work practice.
· Have expertise or an interest in fundraising and a willingness to support fundraising efforts.
· Commit to perform duties of Board membership responsibility and conform to the level of competence expected from Board members as outlined in the fundamental duties that apply to nonprofit Board members:
o To serve the organization as a whole rather than any special interest group or constituency and to exercise power in the interest of the Association and not in their own interest or the interest entity or person.
o To participate in the decisions of the Board and be well informed as to data relevant to discussions.
· Exercise leadership and undertake special assignments willingly and enthusiastically
· Maintain confidentiality of the Board’s executive sessions, and speak for the Board or Association only when authorized to do so.
· Maintain independence and objectivity and execute responsibilities with a sense of fairness, ethics, and personal integrity, even though not necessarily obliged to do so by law, regulation, Code of Ethics, or custom.
· Demonstrate:
o Sensitivity to member/stakeholder views
o Foresight about the Association/profession/issues areas.
o Insight into the capacity and strategic position of the Association.
o Awareness of ethical implications.
· Be visionary and analytical; bring a broad perspective; motivate others; and provide a spirit of collaboration and teamwork in furthering the goals of the Association.
Nominees for Leadership Must be Prepared to:
o Devote the necessary time for meetings
o Travel to essential SEACO activities
o Speak to media (or learn to)
o Read and respond to materials, reports, analyses of the Association
o Work with people with diverse points of view and life experiences
NB: Having skills in proposal writing is an added advantage.
Closing date is 31st Jan 2011.
We intend to have our offices in Nairobi soonest after collecting the certificate from the registrar’s office anytime from now.
