Inoorero University Software and Applications Administrator Job in Kenya

Overall purpose of the job: This position is responsible for providing system-level support of multi-user operating systems, hardware and software tools and Identify alternatives for optimizing ICT resources.

Responsibilities:
Design and develop new software applications for respective users as may be required
Carry out feasibility study and analysing information technology systems as per the University requirement
Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.
Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade hardware and software interfaces with the operating system. Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define data processing needs.

Ensure post-implementation review of computer systems and organising in-house computer training for staff/management in liaison with training department
Participate in definition and designing of access security to the database through access rights on the data, modules and files
Evaluate software requirement and analysis of available equipment capacity
Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
Write and maintain system documentation.
Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.
Performing any other duty as may be assigned from time to time
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in computer science/IT
Professional Qualifications:
Relevant System Development and Database Administration Certifications
Working Experience:
At least 5 years experience in system development and database administration.
Technical Skills
Server 2003/2008 Administration
SQL 2005/2008 Administration
Linux/UNIX Administration
WMware Administration (Linux Based)
Moodle Administration and Support
Router/Catalyst switches Administration
Specialist in Computer and network security
Competencies
Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Proactive, initiative and good networking skills.
