General Information:

ACK Eldoret Region, Christian Community Services is a rapidly growing non-profit Faith Based Organization dedicated to the expansion of economic opportunity and income for the poor in the North Rift, Kenya.

It carries out Participatory Development activities that enhance the competitiveness of agricultural and other industry “value chains” for the benefit of small-holder farmers and other market participants in the North Rift.

It also focuses on the identification and development of high potential entrepreneurs for the expansion of their businesses and generation of employment opportunity.

Primary Purpose & Function:

ACK Eldoret Region is undertaking a two year Project to contribute to improving income growth opportunities for smallholder’s farmers and other actors in selected counties of the North Rift’s Irish Potato and Dairy Value Chain.

The purpose of the Project is to develop a more competitive, sustainable and inclusive Irish Potato and Dairy value chain that increases the income of the smaller holders and creates employment.

This will be done through Empowering Producer Business Groups (PBGs) to increase production and diversify income in a sustainable manner, improving the supply chain to strengthen market linkages, fostering competitive local processing businesses to increase local value addition, and facilitating supportive enabling environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the project is implemented with sound managerial, technical, financial and human resources practices and that the processes and activities adhere to corporate policy, legal and contractual obligations and corporate and donor standards.
Knowledge & Expertise
  • Degree in business-related studies or Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business Management or a related field required.
  • Strong analytical and project managerial skills.
  • Minimum of three years experience in business development and management, program design and planning.
  • Field and technical experience with farmer co-operatives and / or agribusiness development in region is preferred
  • Expertise in value chains and markets is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal / people management skills and excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili
  • Strong private sector experience and entrepreneurial skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
