West Kenya Sugar Company Limited is the fastest growing sugar company in the country with a mission of setting the pace of modernization of the Kenyan sugar industry. The company invites qualified, competent candidates to apply for the following vacant positions:

Accountant 
FIN/ACC/2010

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the selected candidate will be in-charge of the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Preparation of stock and sales reconciliation reports.
  • Creditors’ Management
  • Debtors’ Management
  • Income tax matters, VAT Returns and other statutory requirements.
  • Preparation of Bank Reconciliations.

  • Maintenance of Fixed Assets Register and depreciation schedules.
  • Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts.
  • Preparation of cash flow, Profit & Loss and Balance sheets.
  • Payroll accounting.
  • Preparation of Budgets and its controls.
The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Finance or Accounting Option), with a CPA II qualification.

The candidate must possess at least 5 years relevant work experience as accountant in a manufacturing industry.

In addition, the candidate must be proficient in computer operations, particularly Excel and MS Word, be a team player, self driven, ready to work within deadlines, good communication, interpersonal and report writing skills. Previous experience in an audit firm will be added advantage.

Secretary 
FIN/SEC/2010

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Coordinate office activities and perform administrative and secretarial assignments in the Finance department, arrange meetings and conferences for finance staff and other line staff and notify other interested parties.
  • Type letters, memoranda, financial and administrative reports, technical materials, numerical data, charts and forms from verbal or written instructions.
  • Proofread and correct prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, letter formats, completeness and content.
  • Compose routine letters, memoranda, and reports using knowledge of finance management work area instructions and guidelines for appropriate approval and signature.
  • Participate in the preparation of finance department budgets and financial reports and other financial records.
  • Determine and coordinate needs and order office supplies, equipment, repair and maintenance services for office equipment and through agency channels.
The ideal candidate must possess a Diploma in Secretarial Studies and at least 3 years relevant work experience in a busy manufacturing environment. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, communications and customer care skills.

In addition, the candidate must be a team player with strong report writing skills and typing speed of at least 35 words per minute. Experience in a Finance or Accounting department will be added advantage.
