Quality Assurance Coordinator Job Vacancy - Kenya Ministry of Defense (KMOD) PEPFAR Program

The Kenya Ministry of Defense (KMOD) PEPFAR Program is supported by the Walter Reed Project and seeks to improve the management of HIV in the military throughout the country. The Program coordinating office is located at KEMRI/Walter Reed Project offices off Mbagathi Road.

In order to continue providing the required care, monitoring and evaluation services to Kenya Military, KMOD PEPFAR Program seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced person to fill the following position:

Job Title:
 Quality Assurance Coordinator

The KMOD/WRP Quality Assurance Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring all KMOD/WRP studies and projects are of the highest quality.

The responsibilities will be in the areas of:
  • Directing the staff in the execution of clinical protocols

  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • SOP Development and Maintenance
  • Lab Quality Control.
He/she will be reporting directly to the program Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop overall Quality Assurance master plan for all studies and program activities with the approval of the Director. These plans will be used by the Quality Assurance Coordinator and the KMOD/WRP staff to guide and ensure that all aspects are being maintained at their highest levels.

These activities include, but are not limited to the following areas:

Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Development and overall oversight of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plans for the all KMOD protocols and program.
  • Coordinate and conduct internal M&E activities in conjunction with other program staff.
  • Submit internal M&E reports to the director and Principle Investigators (PI).
  • Directly responsible for communication, protocol development and protocol execution (including logistics) Protocol & Standard Operating Procedures
Development and Maintenance:
  • Coordinate and develop relevant program Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by ensuring that all aspects of the SOP are addressed by the necessary staff or external experts as needed.
  • Oversee the modification of Protocols and SOPs and ensure that the proper scientific and ethical permits are obtained.
  • Ensure that scientific and ethical reports are submitted and renewals are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and advise the appropriate staff of these schedules.
Lab Quality Control:
  • Development and oversight of all lab related activities at the field sites and at AFMH.
  • Ensure that proper SOPs are developed and maintained for labs and lab related activities.
  • Train lab staff on routine basis and as needed.
  • Conduct internal M&E of labs and lab procedures to ensure results are of highest quality
Miscellaneous:
  • Represent KMOD/WRP at meetings with partner organizations such as CDC, USAID, MOH and other partners.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Director.
Qualifications:
  • At least a degree level or equivalent in a clinical study related field.
Experience:
  • At least three years experience in clinical research studies.
  • Demonstrated Monitoring & Evaluation experience.
  • Demonstrated good report writing skills.
  • Ability to professionally represent the KMOD/WRP studies and project at high level meetings with USG officials, Kenya government agencies, research organizations, and funders.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office.
  • The highest moral character and integrity
  • Self driven and team player capable of working with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent follow up and completion skills
