GIBB Africa Environmentalist and Sociologist / Socio-Economist Jobs in Kenya

GIBB Africa Ltd seeks to recruit suitable candidates for the following positions:

Senior Environmentalist

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of bids;
  • Investigations / Assessments / Audits in accordance with the project brief;
  • All administrative tasks associated with assigned projects, including all reporting on project progress.
  • Seeking and developing opportunities, in regard to Environmental Impact Assessments, Audits, Strategic Environmental Assessments, Occupational Health and Safety Assessments, environmental certification, donor-funded environmental programmes and similar projects.
  • Ensuring appropriate professional and technical standards and practices and effective Quality Assurance.
Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • B.Sc and M.Sc Degree (Environmental Studies) or equivalent preferred.
  • Registered with NEMA as a lead expert.
Working Experience
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments and Audits
Senior Sociologist / Socio-Economist

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of bids;
  • Investigations / Assessments / Audits in accordance with the project brief;
  • All administrative tasks associated with assigned projects, including all reporting on project progress.
  • Seeking and developing opportunities, in regard to Social Impact Assessments, Socio-economic surveys, Resettlement Action Plans, community development programs, donor-funded environmental programs and similar projects.
  • Ensuring appropriate professional and technical standards and practices and effective Quality Assurance.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
  • B.A and M.A Degree (Sociology / Economics) or equivalent preferred
Working Experience
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in preparation of Social Impact Assessments, Socio-economic surveys and Resettlement Action Plans.
Candidates for the above positions should have the following key competencies:
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a technically responsible specialist in their respective field
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, program, manage, delegate and monitor work programs of project teams.
  • Highly motivated with personal initiative and willingness to accept a wide range of managerial responsibilities.
  • Excellent writing and oral skills, including ability to present concise written and oral reports.
  • Good social and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary working environment.
