COHRE Finance and administration Officer Job Vacancy

The Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE) is an international human rights NGO working to promote and protect the human right to adequate housing for everyone, everywhere. COHRE has regional programmes in Africa, Asia and Latin. Established in 1994, COHRE is now an important voice in the global human rights movement.

Finance and administration Officer

Reporting to the Africa Regional Director, the position is responsible for the overall
management of financial, human resource and administrative systems of the regional office and its programs.

S/he ensures that internal office administrative systems are running smoothly and are appropriate for the needs of programme activities. S/he liaises with national and local Government units, NGO partners and donors on matters relating to finance administration of the COHRE Africa regional office.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain efficient financial systems and internal controls
  • Monitor and ensure compliance to all relevant statutory and taxation requirements.
  • Maintain suitable staff records and undertake human resource management tasks
  • Facilitate office logistics and administrative tasks including procurement, permits, events etc
  • Manage cash flows, banking requirements and budget monitoring.
  • Prepare accurate internal and external financial analysis and reports
  • Plan and develop fiscal year-end audit schedules, coordinate subsequent audit exercises.
  • Offer basic support on IT issues and arrange additional support if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Regional Director.
Minimum Requirement
  • A university degree in Finance/Accounting.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in management of finance and administration systems preferably in a non-Governmental organization.
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting, auditing practices and its linkages to programme.
  • Familiarity with government regulations and requirements particularly towards international NGOs.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of Microsoft Office for operational management.
  • Leadership and analytical skills, good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to plan, work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in written and oral English is a requirement.
  • Ability to make sound judgment and take decision.
  • A Diploma in Human Resource Management, Certified Public Accountant will be an added advantage.
