About the Project
The Youth Employment Initiative of Nairobi is a project that aims at encouraging and strengthening networks and cooperation between youth organisations and relevant stakeholders at the labour market, in the delivery of youth employment creation services in Nairobi. It also seeks to increase knowledge and skills of young people on employment possibilities/entrepreneurship and supporting the youth in entering the labour market, through capacity building of youth, youth organisations and development of training and networking models within Nairobi area.

Position 1: Project Co-ordinator, Youth Employment Initiative of Nairobi Project

Job Summary
The Project Co-ordinator will provide leadership in the implementation of the project and will carry out the following specific functions:
1.    Supervise day-to-day coordination of the activities in the project secretariat under the supervision and in consultation with the Executive Director Africa Youth Trust
2.    Supervise the daily running of the training centre
3.    Responsible for the development, planning and reporting of project activities including agreements with consultants and facilitators
4.    Coordinate, plan and develop advocacy activities and information materials
5.    Coordinate information activities relating to the creation and implementation of an information system for youth regarding employment possibilities and services
6.    Plan and prepare for the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings. This includes developing PAC meeting agenda and documents for the participants, progress report, updated activity plans and presentation of project activity reports
7.    Serve as Secretary to the PAC
8.    Coordinate the activities of the project youth networks
Eligibility and Competencies
·         University degree in Education in a Social Sciences or Business related field from a recognized university/institution;
·         Demonstrated competence and administrative ability in planning, development and management of programmes on youth development, entrepreneurship, and/or related activities, with a minimum 5-year experience of demonstrable leadership;
·         Experience in conducting and facilitating youth training workshops;
·         Experience in conducting and supervising advocacy work;
·         Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili;
·         Knowledge and skills of relevant computer applications of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point), knowledge of Internet communications and command is required.
Position 2: Training Officer, Youth Employment Initiative of Nairobi Project

Job Summary
This job will involve the following:
1.    He/she will be responsible for planning of all activities related to the capacity building in the project;
2.    Through consultation with other Program Staff members and key stakeholders, develop and design the Training Program for the resource centre for the next three years;
3.    Ensure the design and development of curriculum and courses for the resource centre as agreed upon;
4.    Ensure and liaise with the relevant staff members in the development and production of essential tools and materials to be used in the different activities of the Capacity Building of the project;
5.    Ensure that the training and capacity building activities agreed upon are implemented in a timely manner as per the work plan and set targets are achieved;
6.    Ensure that relevant project outputs, best practices and lessons learned are captured, well documented and disseminated, complying with the agreed requirements;
7.    Evaluate the training courses and curriculum and ensure that statutory training requirements are met;
8.    Amend and revise capacity building activities as necessary in order to adapt to the changes that might occur within the life of the project;
9.    Coordinate and supervise technical staff involved in capacity building;
10.  Ensure that the narrative reports on training and capacity building are compiled and submitted in a timely manner.
Specific Tasks of the Training Officer
Networking and Collaboration responsibilities:
1.    Develop and maintain existing networks and partnerships with projects’ stakeholders and partners;
2.    Ensure gender equity throughout the organization’s capacity building activities and practice;
3.    Represent AYT at selected meetings, conferences and other relevant events with a focus on staying up-to-date in the field of capacity building requirements in regards to youth employment.

Position 3: Counselling Services Officer, Youth Employment Initiative of Nairobi Project

Job Summary
He/she will be responsible for all activities related to the counselling service in the project. This includes development of the counselling service activities.
The implementation of the counselling service includes to:
1.    Establish and coordinate mentorship and internship services
2.    Lead in the recruitment and registration of all participants in the entrepreneurship counselling service and ensure regular follow-up with the participants
3.    Establish and coordinate network of enterprises, entrepreneurs and mentors linking these with the youth
4.    Identify youth needs and liaise with stakeholders on absorption of youth into employment, internship and volunteerism
5.    Actively supervise and interact with youth in daily activities according to structured daily schedule
6.    Provide direct support and guidance to youth visiting the project resource centre
7.    Ensure daily routine and program design is being followed and all documentation is completed accurately
8.    Prepare periodic narrative reports
Eligibility and Competencies
1.    University degree in Education, Social Sciences or a Business related field from a recognized university/institution;
2.    Demonstrated competence and administrative ability in planning and management of programmes on entrepreneurship, youth development and/or related activities;
3.    Experience in conducting and facilitating business counseling services;
4.    Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili;
5.    Knowledge and skills of relevant computer applications of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point), knowledge of Internet communications and command is required.
