Senior Deputy Director (Curriculum and Research Services)

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:
  • Formulating, implementing and reviewing plans, objectives and strategies related to curriculum and research including mobilization of resources;
  • Coordinating research and directing development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials;

  • Liaising with stakeholders to ensure standards in curricula offered in learning institutions;
  • Ensuring effective orientation of curriculum implementers and;
  • Coordinating monitoring and review of the curriculum on a continuous basis.
Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  • A Master’s Degree in Education with specialization in curriculum studies and research or related field, with a relevant working experience at supervisory level in the area of curriculum development and research for at least ten (10) years;
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in Education or its equivalent with a working experience at supervisory level in curriculum related area for at least twelve (12) years will be considered and;
  • Knowledgeable in national and international trends in curriculum and curriculum development and research.
Assistant Director, Electronic and Emerging Media

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:
  • Coordinating development of relevant and quality econtent curriculum support materials in Biology and a cluster of other subjects.
  • Initiating research, monitoring and evaluation of media and electronic curriculum materials;
  • Conducting evaluation of both print and e-learning curriculum support materials.
  • Initiating and participating in curriculum orientation activities and;
  • Coordination of subject and course panels.
Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  • A Master’s degree in Education or a related field with a relevant working experience at supervisory level in the area of curriculum development/implementation for at least four (4) years. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in Education or its equivalent and at least six (6) years working experience at a supervisory level in curriculum development/implementation will be considered;
  • Applicants who have interacted with media/electronic material development will have an added advantage;
  • Demonstrated competence in Computer Applications and their integration in teaching and learning and;
  • Initiative, team player and highly motivated.
Principal Procurement Officer

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:
  • Formulating policies and regulations for efficient management of the procurement services in the Institute.
  • Providing expert advice on all procurement matters to the Director;
  • Initiating, coordinating and preparing annual Procurement Plan and;
  • Managing the Institute’s supplies, Inventory and stores services.
Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  • A Master’s degree in Supplies Management OR related field from a recognized Institution with a working experience of at least four (4) years;
  • Applicant with a Bachelors degree in Economics /Commerce, Business Administration or Equivalent Qualifications and post Graduate Qualifications in supplies Management and have worked for at least six (6) years will be considered;
  • Registered as a member of Kenya Institute of supplies management and;
  • Conversant with the public procurement procedures and regulations.
Deputy Chief Internal Auditor

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:
  • Assisting in the coordination and control of the Audit unit;
  • Ensuring the maintenance of high audit standards and constantly reviewing programmes in the Institute;
  • Organizing, planning, directing, coordinating audit programmes on financial operations and management audits in the Institute and;
  • Inducting, guiding and supervising staff.
Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in Accounts/Finance or in a related field and CPA ‘K’ and five (5) years working experience two (2) of which must be at a senior level and;
  • Demonstrated administrative capabilities and a high degree of competence in planning, conducting and supervising both financial and management audits.
Chief Television (TV) Programming Officer

Duties and responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:
  • Formulating the station goals, policies and procedures;
  • Coordinating programming of the education channel broadcast schedules;
  • Previewing and evaluating local and international educational television programmes to determine relevance and quality for transmission;
  • Sourcing for suitable Educational programmes for broadcast.
  • Responding to viewers’ questions, comments and/or complaints regarding television programming/scheduling;
  • Preparing annual workplan and budget;
  • Conducting monitoring and evaluation of the educational channel programmes and prepare reports;
  • Liaising with the Production manager on programmes content and schedules;
  • Ensuring compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines in broadcasting;
  • Initiating programme sponsorship and;
  • Inducting, training and supervising staff.
Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communications, Media Studies, Broadcast Journalism, Information Sciences or related field and at least three (3) years experience in programme evaluation, acquisition and scheduling of television programmes in a reputable broadcasting house at a supervisory level.
  • TV Production training;
  • Conversant with broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and production standards;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and;
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
Chief Television (TV) Production Officer

The duties at this level will entail:
  • Formulating the station goals, policies and procedures;
  • Coordinating production work for the Educational television channel;
  • Preparing annual workplan and budget;
  • Liaising with the Programming manager on programs content and schedules;
  • Planning and supervising television production activities and personnel;
  • Liaising with producers, directors and technical teams on television productions;
  • Initiating program production partnerships and sponsorship;
  • Ensuring compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines in broadcasting;
  • Conducting monitoring and evaluation of the educational channel productions and preparing reports and;
  • Inducting and training staff.
Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Communications, Media Studies, Education, Broadcast Journalism, or related field and at least three (3) years experience in TV production in a reputable broadcasting house at a supervisory level;
  • Background Knowledge of the Kenyan curricula
  • Knowledge in educational news gathering, reporting and presentation;

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:
  • Organizing and overseeing the Institute’s corporate affairs, events and public relation activities;
  • Ensuring timely and accurate responses to enquiries from both internal and external audiences;
  • Coordinating timely publication of the Institute’s newsflash, Curriculum Watch and other information materials;
  • Researching, gathering, analyzing and disseminating correct information to the target audience in an easy and understandable manner;
  • Drafting and editing appropriate messages; including presentations, speeches, press releases, weekly updates and newsletters whose broad objective is to underscore the corporate mission and vision and;
  • Preparing and making appropriate follow-up of corporate advertisements for print, electronic and outdoor media.

Senior Communication Officer

  • Developing and Editing stories on various topical issues before they are released to the public and liaising with media practitioners and public on issues of mutual concern;

  • Assisting in the development of communications and media strategy in the Institute and;
  • Managing assigned projects/programmes.
Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Journalism, International Relations, Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Education or its approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution.
  • Served in the grade of Communication Officer or in a relevant & comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:
  • Organizing and controlling work in the telephone exchange;
  • Coordinating utilization of telephone facilities;
  • Checking traffic data for determining adequacy of the staffing levels and telephone facilities;
  • Supervising, training and developing staff in the telephone exchange unit;
  • Checking on utilization of telephone exchange equipment/facilities and;
  • Coordinating studies and collection of traffic data for measurement of the quality of service.
Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  • Higher Diploma in Telephone Operations from a recognized Institution;
  • Satisfactorily served as a Telephone Supervisor in a busy telephone exchange for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Proven ability in work planning, organization and staff management/control;
  • Demonstrated ability in staff training/ development on telephone operations and;
  • Proficient in computer use and application.
