Human Resources Officer Job Vacancy - International Christian Disability and Inclusive Development Organization

Our Client is an international Christian disability and inclusive development organization whose primary purpose is to improve quality of life of the world’s poorest persons with disabilities and those at risk of disability, who live in the most disadvantaged societies.

Our client is looking to recruit a seasoned HR Officer who will be responsible for the development and management of Human Resource systems.

Human Resources Officer 

Position Purpose: The Human Resources Officer is responsible for the development and management of Human Resource systems. He/she maintains and enhances the human resources of the East Africa and Central Africa Regional Offices by planning, implementing and evaluating human resources policies, programs and practices.

Structure of Authority 

The incumbent will report to the Regional Director for East Africa.

Key objectives of the position
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Human Resource System to support the implementation of the regional strategies.
  • Development of effective tools to assist in creating an optimal organisational structure and productive work environment (HR guideline materials including handbooks, orientation manuals, performance appraisals tools, induction programmes etc.)
  • Encourage a positive and team-focused working environment by setting standards for good communication and ensure staff behaviour is in line with the organization’s core values.
  • Ensure succession plans are in place for key leadership roles.
  • Assessment of training needs and development and management of a staff training programme.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Establishing standards for effective HR services including:
  • Recruitment and selection, Training & Development, Career Development, Employment contracts, Staff Induction & Exit Interviews, Human Resource Planning and Strategic planning, Health & Safety/Employee wellness.
  • Act as a resource and advisor to the Regional Directors in regard to Human Resources issues, developmental plans and programs of change.
  • Designing and delivering processes and systems to manage succession for key leadership roles in the regions.
  • Problem-solving, mediating and coaching in all areas of the performance management process.
  • Ensure the principles of inclusion for HR strategy development and its implementation are in place and adhered to.
  • Conduct training and lend advice on HR best practices for the regional offices and for partners in the region.
  • Administration and maintenance of relevant data and documentation for staff in the Regional Offices and international co-workers.
  • To avail 15-20% of his/her time to supporting the wider organization family and in particular the other Regional Offices in Africa, in HR related matters.
Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Human Resource Management
  • Be a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) or any other recognized professional HR Body.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar capacity
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant labour laws
  • Prior working experience with an international NGO.
