HR Manager – Integrated Steel Plant Job in Ethiopia

An exciting opportunity to manage change in Ethiopia
An opportunity exists for an experienced HR professional to join a well-known Ethiopian group as HR Manager for its integrated steel plant just outside Addis Ababa.
Reporting functionally to the Group HR Executive and on a day to day basis to the Plant Manager, the person appointed will be responsible at factory level for managing the company’s wage and salary structure, performance related pay and appraisal processes and its disciplinary procedure as well as for coordinating all recruitment activities and ensuring that the operation remains compliant with all employment and health and safety legislation. He or she will also ensure that all employee records are properly maintained.
Applicants must have a degree in Human Resource Management or Behavioural Sciences and must have spent a minimum of five years in HR, preferably in a heavy industry manufacturing operation. Strong enough to operate in a tough environment, they will have the interpersonal skills to operate effectively cross functionally and at all levels in a culturally diverse organisation employing expatriate as well as local staff. They will also be excellent communicators. A willingness to become thoroughly conversant with Ethiopian employment law and health and safety legislation is a prerequisite.
