AAH-I, an international non-profit making agency that implements health and development projects in Africa, seeks to recruit a dynamic, innovative, senior development manager and leader for the position of Country Director for its programme in South Sudan.
The position will be based in AAH-I’s Juba Office.
The Country Director has overall responsibility for AAH-l programmes and operations in Sudan, and represents AAH-I with the Government, Donors, partners and other key stakeholders to foster a supportive environment for AAH-I’s work. He/she directs and supervises programmes, ensuring that they are planned, implemented and coordinated within the overall AAH-I programme strategy and donor guidelines. He/she ensures prudent management of resources to achieve the desired results.
The Country Director leads and supervises a staff of over 100 employees working in 9 Counties in the Equatorial region. He/she is also responsible for further growing the AAH-l Sudan programme and expanding its funding sources.
AAH-I has been a development leader in South Sudan for close to 20 years now, working in the areas of:
1) Basic services — primary health care, water and sanitation and education;
2) Food and income security and environmental management; and
3) Civil society strengthening and peacebuilding.
Required Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in health or social sciences with significant experience in public health and development projects management;
· Proven track record of leadership, with at least 5 years progressive senior management experience supervising complex programmes funded by major multilateral or bilateral donor agencies;
· Demonstrated field leadership in strategic programme and project development, implementation, and evaluation;
· Proven track record in resource mobilization;
· Commitment to promote AAH-I’s Vision, Mission and its strategic goals;
· Inspiring leadership with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
· Excellent diplomatic skills and ability to create positive relations with senior government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations, NGOs and CBOs to enhance AAH-I’s programmes.
· Experience with financial management and compliance with donor requirements.
· Entrepreneurial orientation, self-starter able to work independently and cope with demanding work situations.
