The Standard Group, a leading media house which publishes The Standard, The Standard On Saturday, The Standard On Sunday, operates Kenya's Premier Television Station, KTN, and the latest broadcast station, Radio Maisha, wishes to recruit a new generation of talented, self-motivated, energetic, results-driven and trustworthy news reporters and correspondents with the following qualifications:

Reporters

Reporting to the News Editor, the reporters' main responsibilities will include gathering news and news features, verifying and filing stories within stipulated and usually strict deadlines.

The person:
  • Must hold a Bachelors degree in Journalism or a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication besides having keen interest in writing and current affairs.
  • Must have ability to write creatively and with passion.

  • Will be aged between 24-28 years, have a good command of the English language, have flair for writing and be ready to work in any part of the country on a full time basis.
  • Will be flexible, be ready to travel and work under pressure for long and irregular hours.
  • Must have a broad perspective on issues.
Correspondents

Reporting to the Regional Editor, the correspondents' main responsibilities will include gathering news and news features, verifying and filing stories within stipulated and usually strict deadlines.

The person:
  • Must be a trained journalist and can write creatively and with passion.
  • Will be aged below 35 years and has a good command of both written and spoken English and Kiswahili languages.
  • Must hold a University Degree and/or Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication.
  • Will be required to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must have a broad perspective on issues.
  • Those who can handle a TV camera will have an added advantage.
