The opportunity

Established in early 2005, FSD Kenya aims to support the development of inclusive financial markets in Kenya as a means to stimulate wealth creation and reduce poverty.

Working in partnership with the financial services industry our goal is to significantly expand access to services among lower income households and smaller scale enterprises.

Savings and Credit Co-operatives (SACCOs) represent a major element of the financial system and provide services to a large number of low income households in Kenya.

The introduction of a new regulatory framework for SACCOs will provide a strong base for the future development of the movement.

To help SACCOs meet the challenges of reform, a support programme has been developed by a SACCO capacity working group (SWG) composed of key industry stakeholders. FSD has worked extensively with the movement over the last five years and will continue its support through this initiative.

The SWG needs a project manager to lead the SACCO reforms programme. Based full time in Nairobi with FSD Kenya, the position will involve supporting the SWG in implementation of programme activities; identifying appropriate technical inputs
for the programme; assuring the quality of deliverables; providing an information resource for the SWG and other stakeholders; and commissioning follow-up surveys and evaluation to assess the impact of the programme on the sector.
