Safaricom Sacco Ltd wishes to invite applications for the position of General Manager
The Position
Safaricom Sacco is a fast growing Society and in response to the growth, we are seeking to recruit a General Manager who will be the Chief Executive Officer of the Society.
The person will be reporting to the Sacco Board of Directors. He / She will oversee the Financial management, Information Technology, FOSA, Marketing, Human Resource Management and General administrative functions of the Sacco.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that financial statements are prepared periodically according to GAAP and in time under strict reporting deadlines
  • Ensuring that annual audit is co-ordinated and completed in time for the annual general meeting that is held within two months after the close of financial year
  • Staff supervision and handling al matters related to human resources and staff performance management

  • Ensuring the society’s compliance with Co-operatives Act, By-laws, Internal Policies and regulatory obligations
  • Provide leadership in the set up and efficient operation of the society’s FOSA
  • Ensuring that the society’s annual budgets are prepared and communicated to the Board of Directors for approval before the annual general meeting
  • Implementing Board decisions and annual general meetings resolutions
  • Handling all marketing and public relations activities of the Sacco
  • Ensuring procurement of insurance services, stationery and printing and other outsourced services
  • Implement credit administration controls, systems and processes in order to minimize loss to the Sacco through revenue leakage
  • Approving payment vouchers, petty cash vouchers and suppliers’ invoices
  • Attending Board meetings as an ex-officio member and providing advice on technical issues concerning finances, legal, human resource, by-laws etc
  • Ensuring that the Loan Application process is effective, efficient and flawless
  • Putting in place structures that foster excellent customer service delivery
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the Board.
Minimum qualification and experience required for this position
  • A minimum of a first degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting or Finance and a CPA (K) or CPS (K). An MBA will be an added advantage
  • Five years relevant managerial experience in a reputable financial institution
  • Experience in project management and implementation of new products and services within a service oriented environment.
Skills, Character and Knowledge
  • Excellent report writing skills with high level of computing skills i.e. MS office and at least one accounting package
  • Must be fully conversant with Budgeting, Forecasting, Cost & Credit Control, Margin Analysis, Costing & Profitability Analysis and Management Reporting,
  • Must be very well versed in dealing with Banks and Financial Institutions
  • Must be experienced with arranging Project Finance for various projects as well as expansion
  • Knowledge of innovative Financing Structures and Funding Mechanisms will serve as an added advantage for the applicant
  • Holistic, innovative and creative approach to addressing business challenges with the ability to understand and adapt quickly to changing customer expectations
  • Excellent communication skills with exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Strong self motivation and flexible team player
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize between tasks
  • Highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Superb analytical and problem solving skis
  • Ability to organize and take notes at meetings, workshops and produce concise and accurate minutes and reports.
