Safaricom Jobs: Principle Learning and Development Officer - Technical

The Learning & Development Section within the Center of Expertise Department in Human Resources Division is responsible for facilitating technical, management, leadership and general development of the Safaricom staff.

The section is looking to recruit a 
Principal Learning & Development Officer - Technical.

Ref: HR – PLDO/T – JUL10

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Learning and Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Identifying and analyzing Learning & Development needs based on technical, managerial and leadership requirements, Performance and Development Review (PDR), changes in the business, technology and succession planning amongst other business priorities ;
  • In line with our strategies, research, design, develop and implement Technical Learning and Development programs;
  • Facilitate in-house Technology based courses to staff in Technology divisions and non-technology staff;

  • Monitor and analyze impact on actual work performance and Return on Investment (ROI) for relevant development programs for the technology team;
  • Research, source, assess and recommend relevant suppliers, delivery methodologies and approaches to technology trainings;
  • In liaison with local and international institutions of higher learning research, design and develop relevant telecommunication and ICT curriculum to be adapted by local university partners
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders within and without to ensure programs remain relevant and in line with global trends;
  • In-depth analysis and reporting on Learning & Development initiatives on a Monthly/quarterly/Annual basis.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies:
  • Bachelor of Technology Education/Telecommunication from a recognized university;
  • 8 years post-graduation experience in a variety of technology roles gaining practical experience to complement theoretical knowledge;
  • Proficiency in technical training design with facilitation and evaluation skills & techniques;
  • Training Curriculum Design Certification will be an added advantage;
  • Trained and experienced in project management;
  • Ability to use Learning Management Systems in management and delivery of blended learning
  • Ability to manipulate data and generate learning and development reports ;
  • Ability to network and engage senior management team through good communication, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Proactive, confident, energetic and ability to work under pressure;
  • A team player with a pleasant outgoing personality with empathy and resilience.
