NGO Programme Officer Job Vacancy

Job Summary
Our client is a registered education charity and the UK’s leading independent education consultancy and service organisation, delivering to a diverse range of clients worldwide. This Not-for-Profit organisation is now strengthening its operations in the region with the regional office based in Nairobi and managing projects in Kenya, Rwanda, Somaliland and Namibia.
Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Officer will take responsibility for organization’s current programmes in Somalia, which focus mainly on institutional development.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the following:
·         Proposal appraisal procedures
·         Production of plans and reports
·         Monitoring of project budgets and expenditure
·         Organization of training workshops
·         Production of newsletters/publicity and other materials
·         Event management.
·         Monitoring, evaluation and auditing of projects

  • Work closely with Ministry of Education to ensure client’s activities are undertaken in partnership and within national policies
  • Responsible for liaison, professional guidance and coordination of Ministry of Education and other institutions officers in the programme.
  • Work with the programme consultants and other staff assigned to support programme activities and support them in planning, implementation and reporting.
  • Ensure effective logistical support of the organization’s consultants, partners and staff and is responsible for dealing with immigration department on processing of travel documents, visas and clearing of cargo.
  • Liaise and network with other educational institutions, clients and partners (government and non-government) as required by the programme.
  • Preparation of quarterly balanced scorecard for all Somalia projects and pass them to Head Office.
  • Visit field sites to monitor work throughout the entire project cycle (planning, execution, measuring, evaluation and learning).
  • Participate in the process of the strategic planning of the programme and attend coordination meetings on behalf of the organization as directed by the Manager.
  • Take up any other responsibilities assigned by the Programme Manager.
  • Maintain own professional development
Requirements
  • University degree, preferably in any of the following fields: Sociology, Education or any other relevant development- related discipline.
  • Experience in the planning, formulation, monitoring and assessment of programs and projects in an intergovernmental organization context.
  • Sound knowledge of education policies, strategies and practice at both national and international levels
  • Experience of working and partnering with Ministries, Donor Agencies and International NGO’s and an understanding of sector wide approaches
  • Experience of designing, managing and providing support to Programmes, including capacity/institutional development, strategic planning and policy development, financial management, human resource management and organizational development.
  • Good administrative, planning, accounting knowledge and organisation skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal relations and computer skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and good Report writing skills.
  • Experience of working in Somalia or other post-conflict environments
  • Willing to frequently travel to Somalia.
