Kenyatta University - Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Job Vacancies

Kenyatta University wishes to recruit qualified and dedicated staff to fill the following vacant positions.
School of Economics (Kitui, Nakuru, Nyeri, Mombasa and Kenyatta University Main Campuses)
Senior Lecturer

Applicants be holders of a PhD degree from a recognized University and should be able to teach Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, Economic Statistics and Mathematics for Economists.

In addition successful candidates should be able to teach at least any two of the following electives: Public Finance, Monetary Theory and Policy, International Economics, Health Economics, Financial Economics, Economics of Industry, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics and Labour Economics.
Further to the above the applicant should:

  • Have at least five (5) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as a full–time Lecturer after PhD qualification.
  • Have successfully supervised at least three (3) Masters students and one (1) PhD student since being appointed Lecturer.
  • Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least three (3) articles in refereed journals since being appointed Lecturer.
  • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or Workshops.
  • Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities, leadership and good quality teaching
  • Applicants will be expected to teach and supervise postgraduate degree candidates.
Lecturer

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area, from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis and should be able to teach Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, Economic Statistics and Mathematics for Economists.

In addition successful candidates should be able to teach at least any two of the following electives: Public Finance, Monetary Theory and Policy, International Economics, Health Economics, Financial Economics, Economics of Industry, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics and Labour Economics.
Further to the above the applicants must:
  • Have presented at least three (3) Seminar papers or has two (2) publications in refereed journals
  • Full time University teaching experience as a Tutorial Fellow or Assistant Lecturer for at least three (3) years.
Tutorial Fellow

Applicants must be holders of Masters Degree in the relevant area from a recognized university.

In addition applicants must be prepared to pursue PhD degree in the area of specialization.

Those who have evidence of pursuing a PhD degree and have university teaching experience will have an added advantage.
Terms of Service:

Terms of service for teaching posts of lecturer and above include membership to a pension scheme, a generous medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance.
