German Agro Action Community Based DRR/Drought Preparedness Expert Job Vacancy

German Agro Action is operating in various districts in Kenya and is currently looking for a qualified Community Based DRR/Drought Preparedness Expert for a fixed term field based position in pastoralist Kajiado, south-eastern Kenya.
To qualify for this position the successful candidate will:
  • Have a bachelor, master degree or higher diploma in social sciences, community development, development studies or related field, ideally with additional specialisation in community based disaster risk reduction, specifically drought preparedness
Have knowledge and proven experience in:
  • Community based disaster risk reduction, specifically drought preparedness
  • Community based social protection and resilience building, preferably Cash For Work/Food for Work/WASH interventions

  • Recovery and rehabilitation approaches
  • Targeting methods
  • M&E methodology
  • Community trainings (incl. hygiene promotion)
  • Project reporting
  • Be computer literate
  • Be ambitious, honest, and self-motivated
  • Be a team player, flexible and supporting high work pressure loads
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of post qualification experience in a similar position
  • Be willing to live and work in remote areas and with local communities
