Security Officer 

The successful person will report to the Head of Security, the department reports to the Company Secretary.
Job Summary:

As a Security Officer, the role holder will be responsible for contributing to efficient bank security operations including customers and employees by gathering proactive intelligence, analyzing and interpreting information on incidents of security lapses and advising on appropriate preventive measures.
Main Duties:

  • Ensure full implementation and enforcement of security systems and procedures that provide a safe and secure environment for business operations in the whole bank.
  • Conduct thorough and comprehensive investigations relating to security incidents, manage scenes of crime and liaise with law enforcers and security service providers.
  • Ensure that all security systems are in good working order; liaise with security providers to ensure that any malfunction is promptly attended to within agreed service standards.
  • Provide bank-wide guidance on “best practice” security standards and solutions and to maintain a secure environment for protection of personal property and information.
  • Assess the physical state of all bank premises, including the surroundings, to ensure that security is not compromised.
  • Ensure that periodic surveys of each facility under jurisdiction of the bank are conducted and determine the type and extent of physical security controls necessary for each facility or area.
  • Gather intelligence/information for proactive security decisions.
  • Represent the Bank in court as and when required and maintain relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies and other issuers of security requirements.
  • Carry out security/safety awareness training for staff.
Job specification:

The incumbent will be required to possess the following qualifications, attributes and skills:
  • University degree.
  • Possession of CFE/Diploma in criminal justice or security management and criminology will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in security operations with experience from the Police Force.
  • A good understanding of criminal law will be essential.
  • Experience in Corporate Security Management.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Excellent briefing and report writing skills is mandatory.
  • Must uphold and observe high integrity.
