Chemonics /Kenya Pharma is a USAID funded project that seeks to establish and operate a reliable, sustainable pharmaceutical supply chain management system. Its aim is to distribute drugs for the care and treatment of persons with HIV/AIDs in Kenya.
Chemonics/Kenya Pharma has the following vacancies;
Position: Quality Assurance Assistant
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Position Description: The Quality Assurance Assistant will ensure that commodities meet the specified quality requirements and that quality and form are maintained during storage and distribution in line with medical supplies good practice.
Major Tasks:

  • Implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and systems, record forms and other documentation related to areas of product inspection, sampling and analysis, goods receipt and inspection in the warehouse, waste disposal and drug information.
  • Carry out physical inspection of products prior to their receipt into Kenya Pharma stores.
  • Investigate and respond to customers’ complaints relating to poor quality products.
  • Carry out regular random sampling and quality checks on products supplied to; analyze reasons for poor quality, with the aim of minimizing the incidence of this problem.
  • Carry out product inspection and sampling at manufacturers’ premises prior to receipt into Kenya Pharma warehouses
  • Review and interpret laboratory analytical reports
  • Liaise with selected laboratories to undertake laboratory analysis of drug samples
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Pharmacy and registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board or Bachelor of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry
  • 3-5 years experience working handling pharmaceutical products in Kenya
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceuticals and commodities for HIV/AIDS, particularly Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) regimens will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP)
  • Excellent written, oral communication, analytical and computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs).
  • Experience in the field will be an added advantage
Job Title: Information Technology Administrator
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Position Description: This position is responsible for managing all the organizations technologies and providing technological support and training.
Primary duties include: analyzing systems and processes, maintaining workstations and networks.
Major Tasks
  • Manages and maintains Microsoft Windows applications and systems including but not limited to Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange.
  • Manages the acquisition, installation and maintenance of the organization’s local area network hardware/software.
  • Manages network operations to include: troubleshooting connectivity problems; installing & maintaining routers; adding/terminating users; assigning rights and access; resetting passwords; establishing e-mail addresses; assessing and reporting operational status; performing backups and restores; etc.
  • Ensures technology documents/certificates such as product registrations, SSL certificates, maintenance agreements, service contracts, etc. related to technology operations and/or technology services are evaluated, updated and processed.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on hardware and software.
  • Analyzes technology requirements and develops functional specifications. Conducts comparative analysis and competitive bidding when necessary.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting workstations, networks, software applications, phones, copiers and other technologies.
  • Ensures compliance with all software licensing agreements. Manages and safeguards software media and associated licenses. Tracks software versions. Maintains centralized software use log.
  • Develops annual technology goals and detailed plans for goal accomplishment.
  • Utilizes the Requirements Log System to identify and timely complete technology requirements.
  • Creates and maintains LAN/WAN maintenance logs.
  • Responsible for the discovery, mitigation and documentation of information technology risks. Responsible for the completion of monthly risk management reports.
  • Ensures networks, workstations, operating systems and software applications are operational; ensures hardware and software is patched and/or updated; ensures all analog and broadband circuits are operational in accordance with vendor specifications.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information technology or Computer science from a four year course in a college or university
  • One –two years related experience
  • Special licenses and/or certificates for Cisco Level 1 and 2
