Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is a State Corporation established by the Forest Act 2005, to provide for the establishment, development and sustainable management, including conservation and rational utilisation of forest resources for the socio-economic development of the country.
Development of industrial forest plantations remains a core activity of the Kenya Forest Service. This is borne out of the realization that the wood-based industries in Kenya largely depend on this vital resource for supply of raw materials and that the resource under sustainable management represents a viable economic enterprise.
Sustainable supply of wood raw materials to the industry has been found crucial to protection and conservation of natural forests. Participation of the private sector in plantation management is recognized in the Forest Act 2005.
In recognition of its importance, the Government – in partnership with the Government of Finland will commission a consultant to assist the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) with the development concession management systems and procedures.
Interested bidders should provide information in their EOI indicating their suitability to perform the assignment by show of relevant documentary evidence of past similar accomplishments. The details of relevant references must also be given.
Other eligibility requirements include proof to provide:-
1. Detailed individual or company profile.
2. Copies of PIN, VAT Reg. Cert. of Incorporation/Reg., tax clearance certificate.
3. Audited accounts for the last two years (2008 and 2009).
4. Names and CVs of key staffs, other staffs and their qualifications.
5. Ability to develop Concession Management Framework.
6. Concession Agreement template.
7. Timber price mechanism.
8. Guidelines on performance review and monitoring of Concession Agreements.
9. Physical address and Telephone contacts.

The documents should be placed in the tender box situated on Ground floor reception area of KFS, Headquarters Karura off Kiambu Road so as to be received on Or before 08.07.2010 at 12.00 noon.
Interests submitted later than the indicated closing date and time shall automatically be disqualified. Interests Opening will take place immediately on the same date in the same building in the Main Boardroom. Tenderers or their representatives who wish to attend are invited to witness the opening.
