CARE Kenya Jobs: Cherie Blair Foundation for Women Project – Nyanza Vacancies

CARE International in Kenya is looking for dynamic and highly motivated individuals of high moral character and professional integrity to fill the following positions for her Cherie Blair Foundation for Women funded Sustainable Economic Empowerment for Women Entrepreneurs in Suba and Bondo districts of Nyanza Province
Position: Project Officer
(1 Position)
The Project Officer will report directly to the GS&L Specialist and he/she will provide direct supervision to the field officer, and will assist the impact group to create entrepreneurial culture and strengthen the capacity of existing GS&L groups for linkage to other service providers using the mobile network technology
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, lead, organize, direct and evaluate the WED project implementation in accordance with Group Savings and Loans (GSL), selection, planning and management (SPM) methodologies, and project objectives.

  • Assist in project budget development and reviews, and review of project expenditures as may be required from time to time.
  • Develop capacities of project staff and community resource persons through training to produce competent community trainer’s imperative for growth and sustainability of the economic activities initiated.
  • Coordinate activities with other development agencies (especially Banks, MFIs and Network service providers), government departments for financial and marketing linkages.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Business administration, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Recognized expertise and experience in agriculture/ horticulture and business management training using methodologies / approaches suitable for low-income earner households.
  • Five years Experience in community mobilization and commercialized agriculture
Position: Field Officer
(1Position)
The Field Officer works directly under the supervision of Project Officer to promote income generating activities to mature GS&L group members through business management and technical skills training using the SPM methodology.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct situational analysis in collaboration with the existing GS&L groups to determine the training needs and the status of GS&L groups within area of assignment
  • Identify key partners in project implementation.
  • Identification and training of community based trainers and resourceful persons as SPM community based trainers in the community.
  • Through the CBTs conduct economic opportunity analysis and market surveys and in partnership conduct technical skills training and especially in the area of agriculture.
  • Identify mature GS&L groups for linkage to financial institutions through mobile network service providers
Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated capacity in Community -managed savings and loan and business development skills approaches
  • Demonstrated capacity in community mobilization
  • A minimum of 3 years doing similar work
  • Relevant degree in social sciences, diploma in Community Development, Agriculture or a Diploma in Co-operatives Development.
