World Concern International Somalia Country Director Job Vacancy

World Concern International, a Christian Relief and Development Organization, wishes to recruit a qualified/competent person for Somalia Country Director position.
The position is based in Nairobi with frequent travels to field locations in Somalia. The initial contract is one year with possibility of renewal. The overall objective of this position is to provide strategic leadership and management to World Concern’s relief and holistic development work in Somalia.
Major Responsibilities:
Program Development:
  • Oversee the effective implementation of WC’s new program in Somaliland.
  • Work with Program Managers to improve the quality and effectiveness of programs
  • Evaluate opportunities and make recommendations about new or enhanced program areas ensuring that effective monitoring and evaluation systems are in place.
  • Identify strategic partnerships
Fund Raising:

  • Write proposals and establish new donor relationships for WC Somalia programs.
  • Network with UN, government agencies, NGO’s and other actors in the Horn of Africa.
  • Provide leadership to Program Managers in initiating development activities that are locally/communally funded and which do not depend on foreign support.
Management:
  • Responsible for budgeting, monitoring and controlling expenses for Somalia programs.
  • Ensure quality reporting to donors and HQ, in full compliance with donor requirements.
  • Monitor the political and security situations in Somalia and ensure appropriate security measures are in place and being followed.
  • Closely cooperate with the Regional Security Officer to ensure that SOP’s, Contingency Plans and Security Plans are updated and relevant.
People Development:
  • The position will ensure that conflicts are resolved in a biblical way with the goal of restoring relationships.
  • Provide guidance on individual staff development and mentor staff towards God’s purposes through utilization of their gifts and talents.
Qualification and Experience
  • Minimum Bachelors/Masters Degree in a suitable field but weight will be given to previous documented experience in leadership within a similar environment.
  • The incumbent must have 5 years experience working in hostile, challenging and cross-cultural environments coupled with experience in understanding of Christian-Muslim relations.
  • Must have excellent spoken/written communication skills, and must be computer literate
