Senior Deputy Director, Estates Management

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.94,235 – Ksh.120,270 p.m. (Job Group ‘R’)
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
  • have served for at least eighteen (18) years in the Housing Sector, three (3) of which should have been at a Senior Management level, Job Group ‘P’ or above or in a comparable position in the Public Service;
  • have a Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: Housing Administration, Architecture, Land Economics, Urban/Regional Planning, Construction Management, Property Management and Valuation, Facilities Management, Business Administration, Structural/ Civil/Building/ Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized university;
  • be registered by any of the following bodies: Institution of Surveyors of Kenya, Board of Architects and Quantity Surveyors, Physical Planners’ Registration Board or any other relevant and recognized body;
  • have attended Strategic Leadership Development course;
  • demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, administrative capabilities and initiative in general organization and management of Building Maintenance, Estate Management and Project Management; and
  • have a thorough understanding of National Goals, Policies, Programmes and Objectives and the ability to translate them to the housing function.
Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be responsible to the Director of Estates for:
  • initiating, formulating and reviewing policies and legislation on estates management;
  • maintenance, office accommodation, public servants’ housing, leasing and housing administration;
  • project planning, administration and management,
  • enforcing planning and building laws and regulations;
  • coordinating the activities of the department at various sections;
  • monitoring and evaluating various government estates projects;
  • carrying out feasibility studies of estates for redevelopment
