Assistant Director, Geo-Information Services
One (1) Post
(Department of Resource Surveys and Remote Sensing)

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.63,782 – Ksh.81,404 p.m. (Job Group ‘P’)
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
  • served for at least twelve (12) years in Geo-Information Services or a related field, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Chief Geo-Information Officer, Job Group ‘M’ or above or in a comparable position in the Management,
  • Geography or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized university;
  • attended a senior management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks; and
  • demonstrated professional competence and administrative ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities

The officer will be answerable to the Senior Assistant Director of Geo-Information Services for all matters relating to the day to day administration of the Geo-Information Systems (GIS) Division.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
  • assisting in formulating Geo-Information policies and maintenance standards;
  • facilitating and conducting Geo-Information research; and
  • carrying out manpower training, development programmes and deployment.
Assistant Director, Natural Resource Survey and Remote Sensing
Three (3) Posts

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.63,782 – Ksh.81,404 p.m. (Job Group ‘P’)
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
  • served in the grade of Principal Natural Resource Survey and Remote Sensing, Job Group ‘N’ for a minimum period of three (3) years or in a comparable position in the Public Service;
  • attended a senior management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks in a recognized institution; and
  • demonstrated professional competence in the development of Natural Resource Survey techniques and use of Geo-Information systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing.
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will be in charge of a division in the Department composed of a multi-disciplinary team of  technical officers.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
1.     formulating and implementing major departmental and National programmes, research, resource assessments,
analyzing and presenting results;
2.     relating research and resource assessment results to public policy issues and their implications; and
3.     translating the policy implications into National and District development planning agenda.
