Programme Officer African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) Jobs in Nairobi

The African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) is an International Professional Organization whose objectives are to promote best practice, excellence and professionalism in public administration and management in Africa.
It is a membership-based organization for those who practise, teach and conduct research or offer consultancy services mainly, but not exclusively, in the public sector. The Association offers and runs programmes and activities aimed at enhancing the African public sector capacity development.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacancy at the Association’s Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya:
Post: Programme Officer
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Secretary General for organizing all AAPAM programmes, including Marketing and Public Relations work.
Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:
  • Initiating and Managing Training Seminars and Workshops
  • Organizing and Managing Conferences
  • Managing the production of AAPAM’s publications, such as journals, newsletters, research monographs and books;
  • Being in charge of AAPAM’s Library and stocking it with books, journals, papers, reports and other materials relevant to African Public Administration and Management;
  • Initiating and co-ordinating AAPAM’s consultancy services;
  • Creating awareness among the public through mass media on AAPAM’s activities and programmes;
  • Marketing AAPAM products; and
  • Any other duties that the Secretary General may determine.
Job Specifications

For appointment to this grade, candidates must:
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration or equivalents from a recognized University.
  • Have training knowledge and experience in public sector management.
  • Have capabilities for initiating and managing relevant public sector capacity building training seminars and workshops.
  • Have Post-graduate training in Programme Management,
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal relations.
  • Be proficient on the computer and excellent organization skills.
  • Have broad knowledge of research and consultancy work.
  • Be self driven, highly motivated, energetic and a team player; and
  • Knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
Salary: AAPAM will offer a competitive basic salary and allowances together with a bonus package related to performance.
Duration of Employment: A Contract of two (2) years. Other subsequent contracts by mutual agreement.
