Our client, the Insurance Training and Education Trust (ITET) is responsible for the management and promotion of insurance education and training in Kenya.
In pursuit of its objectives, ITET established the Kenya National Insurance Examinations Board (Interim) (KNIEB) to objectively evaluate and certify learning achievements. They now wish to recruit a dynamic and innovative Examinations Secretary to head and run the secretariat of the Board.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chairman of the Board, the successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management of all functions of the board, the development and administration of examinations, and be the secretary to the meetings of the board.
Among the key duties to be carried out by the Examinations Secretary will be the following:-
  • Development and production of examination syllabi, papers and marking schemes;
  • Registration and scrutiny of candidates including issuing of exemptions;

  • Development and implementation of effective systems and procedures governing the setting, moderation and invigilation of examinations;
  • Recruitment and training of examiners and invigilators etc.;
  • Coordination of the marking of examinations;
  • Processing, validating and issuing of examination results and certificates
  • Preparation and production of reports on examinations
  • Establishing and building up relationships with stakeholders and other examination bodies locally and internationally;
  • Secretary to the KNIEB (Interim) board and all its committees
Qualifications and other requirements:-
Applications are invited from Kenya citizens who hold a university degree, preferably at Masters level in education, commerce, social sciences or related fields.
Candidates should also have:-
  • Excellent knowledge of insurance; a professional qualification in insurance would be a definite advantage.
  • At least eight (8) years experience in selling, moderating and administering examinations.
  • Well developed leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High professional and ethical standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexible hours.
