Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management Job Vacancy – Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA)

The Position
Reporting directly to the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Board and indirectly to the Chief Executive Officer you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive loss and waste prevention programme through independent, systematic and objective audit reviews and programmatic evaluations of business policies, systems, processes and practices.
You will continuously assesses the effectiveness of internal controls and the degree of compliance as well as identify organisational risk factors in the management of the organization. Preparation of periodic audit reports and making recommendations to help improve the quality of service delivery systems will be an integral part of the job. You will be the champion of promoting and institutionalizing good corporate governance practices.


Core Duties and Responsibilities


You will be expected to have management competencies that will enable you to develop, implement and evaluate an internal control framework for preventing and detecting irregularities such as fraud, theft, dishonesty and negligence as well as managing organizational risks factors.
By providing technical leadership and participating in multidisciplinary teams you will help develop, implement and
evaluate strategic management plans, in order to improve performance standards and organisational effectiveness.

Knowledge of risk management will enable you to determine the adequacy of internal controls by conducting protective and constructive audits of control mechanisms, financial records, administrative procedures, workflow process as well as Management Information Systems.
Your comprehensive understanding of procurement policy, being in possession of strong communication skills and ability to develop proposals and concept papers, as well as write reports will be critical. You must be flexible and responsive in providing high quality customer service. You will have acquired technical expertise in strategic change management, risk management, quality assurance as well as monitoring and evaluation.
Proficiency in computer applications and ability to maintain professional status and keep abreast of evolving audit and risk management trends through continuing professional education, is mandatory.
A desirable competency will be the ability to work independently without supervision and to maintain the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality of information.
Minimum Qualifications
In addition to a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent qualifications, you will hold a professional accounting qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, ACA or ACMA and
current membership to a relevant professional body. A minimum six (6) years relevant professional experience in the areas of accounting and audit gained from an organisation with strong internal control frameworks is mandatory.
