Lake Victoria North Water Services Board was established under the Water Act 2002, as part of the reforms in the water sector. The Boards is responsible for the efficient and economical provision of water and sewerage within its area of jurisdiction as authorized by the Licensee.
The Board seeks to recruit self driven and result oriented candidates to fill the following positions:
1. Asset Development Manager

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the position will be responsible for:
  • Preparing investment proposals for donor funding;
  • Preparing contract documents, including evaluation of prequalification of documents, evaluation of proposals and tender works;
  • Management of consultants and carrying out a review of the consultants’ reports;
  • Ensuring adherence to design and construction standards by consultants;
  • Developing new water and sewerage schemes;
  • Monitoring and supervising the development /construction and rehabilitation of water supplies;

  • Monitoring operations and maintenance of activities of Water Service Providers;
  • Preparing of work plans and budgets;
  • Carrying out design of water and sewerage infrastructure; and,
  • Carrying out structural design of water and sewerage infrastructure.
Requirements for the position
  • Have a University Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institution
  • Must be a registered engineer with ERB and a corporate member of the IEK
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience in water and sewerage project design, project management, project supervision and contract management, two years of which should served in senior management.
  • Proven interpersonal, management and communication skills;
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications; and
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
2. Asset Development Officer

Reporting to the Asset Development Manager, the position will be responsible for:
  • Assisting in the preparation of investment proposals for donor funding;
  • Participate in the evaluation of prequalification of documents, evaluation of proposals and tender works;
  • Ensuring adherence to design and construction standards by consultants;
  • Monitoring and supervising the development /construction and rehabilitation of water supplies;
  • Coordinate monitoring of the operations and maintenance of the activities of Water Service Providers;
  • Ensure maintenance of the relevant records related to the Asset Development, work plans and budget; and
  • Assist in preparing work plans and budgets
Requirements for the position
  • Have a University Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institution and a minimum of 3 years experience in water and sewerage projects.
or
  • Have a Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institution with a minimum of 5 years experience in water and sewerage projects.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Must be computer literate and is familiar with standard office computer applications; and
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
3. Human Resource Officer

Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the position will be responsible for:
  • Updating and maintaining Terms and Conditions of service manual, policies and relevant GOK circulars;
  • Reviewing and updating job descriptions as required from time to time;
  • Assisting staff acquire relevant documents such as NSSF, NHIF and PIN cards;
  • Updating and maintaining an up to date staff database.
  • Contribute to LVNWSB’s training and staff welfare policies, strategy, plans and budgets;
  • Coordinating LVNWSB’s training plans according to the Training Needs Analysis and identifying development solutions;
  • Providing support in the recruitment, induction, staff appraisal e.t.c. process;
  • Coordinating safety and health programmes;
  • Maintaining the Board’s skill inventory;
  • Coordinating the implementation of HIV/AIDS programmes to enhance behaviour change;
  • Coordinating and monitoring courses conducted and preparing reports on the same; and
  • Coordinating   and   monitoring   the   performance   appraisal exercise.
Requirements for the position
  • Must have a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences or related field Hold a National Diploma in Human Resources Management
  • Have 3 years experience working in Human Resources Department in a large organization/busy environment.
  • Should be knowledgeable of Labour Laws
  • Be a team player and have strong interpersonal, employee relations and management skills.
4.  Accountant

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the position will be responsible for:
  • Coordinating financial planning and budgetary process and subsequent monitoring of implementation;
  • Continuously analyzing and advising the Board on how the financial resources are being used so as to create value for stakeholders;
  • Posting of all financial transactions to the general ledger;
  • Ensuring that the accounting system is updated and rolled over to the next period on monthly basis;
  • Managing debtors and creditors ledgers;
  • Preparing the year-end financial statements for audit purpose;
  • Approving petty cash payments;
  • Analysing reconciliations between bank and cash book balances; and
  • Preparing accurate and timely financial reports;
Requirements for the Position
  • Have a Bachelors Degree in Commerce or Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) with specialization in Finance or Accounting and hold CPA II;
  • Have a minimum of 3 years experience working in accounting department in a large organization.
or
  • Have CPA (K) coupled with 5 years experience working in accounting department in a large organization.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Team player and strong leadership and management skills;
  • Proficiency in accounting packages, working knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains will be an added advantage;
  • Excellent financial skills and fully conversant with local and International Accounting Standards; and
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Kenya Government and Donor financial and procurement procedures.
