Kito Internatinoal Kenya is currently organizing for our proof of concept pilot and seeks experienced professionals to assist in its launch, development and growth. Our goal is to reach 10,000 East African street youth within the next three years.
 

Position Description
Kito International Kenya’s Business Development Manager will be directly responsible for firstly managing Kito Enterprises, the Kito Business Academy and the Business Incubator, secondly supporting the Kenya Country Director to develop Kito International into a multi-national organization and thirdly manage compliance, monitoring and evaluation of the Kito International Kenya office and its programs.
 

Business Development



• Managing relationships and partnerships with Kito stakeholders including prospective clients, advisors, thought leaders, and technical experts.
• Identifying and building healthy strategic partnerships with the East African business community that can provide in-kind support to Kito International and in return enhance corporate CSR policies.
 
• Identifying social business and potential Kito Enterprise opportunities, carrying out due diligence and working in conjunction with Kito International’s Senior Management to develop business plans and MOUs.
• Preparing, presenting and maintaining detailed business and investment documentation for Kito International Senior Management and Kito International’s Board of Directors.
• Participating in fundraising and communication activities to strengthen Kito International objectives in East Africa.

Youth Entrepreneurship Development

• Invigorating and building on youths’ entrepreneurial spirit, ensuring they believe in themselves as entrepreneurs.
 
• Developing and implementing the Business Academy entrepreneurship and finance curriculum to ensure youth are trained and inspired.
• Cultivating an entrepreneurial environment and support network that will assist and mentor youth as they write business plans, and prepare to launch their businesses.
 
• Developing a fund and model that disperses capital for Kito participant businesses.

Finance & Operations
• Develop and track risk management controls for different functional areas.
 
• Work with external advisors and consultants to ensure complete compliance with local regulations and Kito International policies and procedures.
 

Qualifications

Candidates for the Business Development Manager role should have a passionate commitment to solving the street youth crisis, strong entrepreneurial spirit, and excellent communications and networking skills. Strong candidates will have a blend of private sector and non-profit experience and experience working with youth. They will have strong organizational skills and an ability to manage and deliver projects independently and proactively. The Business Development Manager will also have the entrepreneurial drive to take an idea and turn it into a high-quality finished product in an innovative way.
 

• A passionate commitment to Kito International’s mission of investing in street youth as entrepreneurs
• At least three years experience in the private and non-profit sector
• A strong entrepreneurial spirit
• A proven ability to manage/execute
• Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively
• Ability to look at situations from several points of view
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to produce written and oral analysis and reports in a clear and succinct manner to Kito International management, partners and investees
• Depth of knowledge in writing proposals to grant-making organizations and corporate entities
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a team and successfully interact with corporate and non-profit partners as well as Kito youth beneficiaries
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Knowledge of other East African languages is a plus.
