Internship Vacancy - Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP)

The Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP) is a Non-Governmental Organisation established in 1999 based in Japan. JCCP’s mission is to contribute to global peace and security by building human capacity for conflict prevention and peace-building. JCCP specialises in capacity building of NGOs and civil society, community security, experts’ training in peacekeeping operations, peace-building for civilian, police and military, education and livelihood support.

Currently JCCP Representative Office in Kenya has several ongoing projects, such as Project for the Development and Implementation of Community Projects for Reconciliation and Co-existence in Kenya (Rift Valley and Nairobi), Community Security Framework Project for Somalia, Rehabilitation Assistance through Capacity Building for 
Mathare Slum Post Election Violence Victims and The conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Network for the Great Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa project.
Some of above projects are funded by Japanese donors and require the reports in Japanese. Therefore JCCP Representative Office in Kenya looks for an Intern who could assists the translation of documents between Japanese and English.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Representative of JCCP Kenya, the duties and responsibilities of the Project Assistant will be as follows:
* The Intern monitors the implementation of the project activities by reviewing the related records, including work plans, progress reports, projects inputs, budgets and financial expenditures under the supervision of Project Manager and Project Officer;
* S/he will assists the translation of project related documents; and
* Performs any other duties in his/her fields of competence as required.

Competencies:
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, partners and beneficiaries;
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize work schedules;
* Fluency in written and spoken Japanese as well as English with systematic drafting skills; and
* Good command of computer applications such as Microsoft Office in particular.

Education/Experiences
* Degree in University or relevant academic courses in Japanese language;
* Degree in University or relevant academic courses in Computer literacy
