Githongo Tea Factory Jobs in Meru Kenya

Githongo Tea Factory Co. Ltd is seeking to recruit suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions.

Plant/Mechanical Technician

Reporting to the Factory Unit Manager - the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Maintaining a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule for the entire factory;
  • Allocating duties and supervising machinery and fleet maintenance teams;
  • Diagnosing faults and ensuring timely repairs of the factory machinery, equipment and vehicles;
  • Requisitioning and verifying spares for machinery and fleet maintenance;
  • Writing technical reports on plant and fleet maintenance;


  • Timely scheduling of statutory maintenance and repairs of steam boilers, generators and vehicles;
  • Installation and commissioning of new machinery;
  • Ensure compliance with occupational, health and safety standards;
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills & experience: -
  • ‘0’ level division II or KCSE ‘C’ plain or above;
  • Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Plant Option) from a recognized institution;
  • At least five (5) years experience gained in a busy manufacturing environment preferably in the tea industry;
  • Be computer literate;
  • Be aged below 40 years.
Factory Supervisor 

Reporting to the Production Manager - the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Production and maintenance of accurate production records;
  • Supervising and appraising of staff on the production floor;
  • Ensuring optimum labour allocation and utilization;
  • Monitoring production of tea against the set parameters;
  • Ensuring maintenance of hygiene standards in the production floor;
  • Ensure compliance with occupational, health and safety standards;
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills & experience: -
  • ‘O’ level Division II or KCSE ‘C’ plain or above;
  • Diploma in Food Science and Technology from a recognized institution;
  • At least five (5) years working experience in a tea or food processing establishment;
  • Be computer literate;
  • Be aged below 40 years.
