Program Summary:

Winrock is seeking candidates for an upcoming USAID-funded youth development and empowerment program. The project aims to positively engage Kenyan youth in political, private sector and social spheres through youth-driven approaches and youth economic development.

Position is contingent upon receipt of donor funding.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership of all programmatic activities.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of annual work plans/targets, budgets, and reports.
  • Coordinate strategy and activities with USAID, implementing partners, national & local government authorities involved in and responsible for programs serving youth.
  • Manage and mentor senior staff.
  • Direct the monitoring and evaluation of the program
  • Serve as technical lead in at least three of the following areas and supervise staff and/or consultants in the remaining areas: youth development, civic participation, vocational education/training, microfinance access, private sector partnerships, employment and job creation.
Qualifications and Background:

Education:
 Masters degree or higher required, in education, business or public policy (preferred) or closely related social sciences. Supplemental training in income generation/entrepreneurship, monitoring and evaluation, HIV/AIDS or gender preferred.

Work Experience:
 Minimum ten years experience working in youth development or vocational education for donor-funded development programs required. Minimum five years experience managing USAID programs and budgets required (Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party experience preferred).

Minimum two years based in Africa required (Kenya experience preferred). Demonstrated technical expertise in three of the following areas: youth development, civic participation, vocational education/training, microfinance access, private sector partnerships, employment and job creation

Skills:
 Strong skills in financial management, writing, monitoring and evaluation required.

Other:
 English fluency required
