Business Development Facilitator: International Committee for the Development of People (CISP) Jobs in Kenya

The International Committee for the Development of People (CISP) is an Italian Non – Governmental Organization implementing the project “Fighting against poverty through income generation, enterprise development and microfinance for poor households”.

The project aims at alleviating the economic impact of poor households in Malindi and Nairobi, strengthening their capacities to start up and develop economic activities at individual and group level.

CISP is, therefore, looking for 2 suitably qualified and experienced persons to work in Nairobi as 
Business Development Facilitator

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Project Manager the successful candidate will

be responsible for the following activities:
  • Network with corporate business and government entities for business linkage opportunities
  • Be updated on issues relevant to the SME sector, through attending information sessions and carrying out researches
  • Source and maintain a database of SME service providers
  • Identify, assess, counsel and follow-up clients on a regular basis advising them on how best to improve their business, referring them to the appropriate service providers
  • Organize and facilitate business development trainings
  • Organize technical trainings
  • Identify clients who have the potential to expand their business, aiding them in writing a business plan and referring them to suitable Micro finance companies
  • Ensure that client and business database is up to date, and that all registered information has been recorded accurately.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • University degree related to the Business Sector
  • At least 3 years professional experience in SME development sector
  • Previous experience of working with NGOs would be advantageous
  • In-depth understanding of the SME sector, particularly within the context of Nairobi
  • Good understanding of business plan writing and tendering mechanisms
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, both in English and Kiswahili
  • Strong interpersonal and team player skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to conduct training and disseminate knowledge and information targeted at a variety of stakeholders
  • Conversant with computer packages especially Word and Excel
