Audit and Compliance Officer: Care International in Kenya Jobs

CARE International in Kenya is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Audit and Compliance Officer. The position is based in Nairobi with over 80% travel to the sub offices.

Reporting to the Head of Audit and Compliance Unit, the incumbent will directly support Kisumu, Dadaab and Garissa sub offices; by carrying out periodic audits to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements including donor regulations and also undertake staff trainings on compliance in the sub offices.

Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Plan and undertake audits to identify and



    recommend measures to mitigate financial risks in all CARE processes.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive register of the major financial and non-financial risks faced by sub offices and establish a risk management plan.
  • Enhance compliance by undertaking trainings, sharing information and guidance to build the capacity of CO staff to increase their knowledge of CARE policies, donor requirements and other external requirements.
  • Ensure timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations by follow up with process holders
  • Support program in the management of sub grants by ensuring program compliance with CARE sub grant policies, donor and other regulations; undertake reviews of sub agreements, contracts and MOUs and support sub-grantees through financial reviews, audits and training.
  • Carry out special assignments including investigations as required by management.
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Degree in Business Administration or Commerce with Qualification in ACCA or CPA.
  • Minimum of 4 years audit experience and demonstrated experience in training on financial and compliance issues. Knowledge of major donor regulations will be an added advantage
  • Understanding of financial management and reporting systems in an NGO setting
  • Ability to review and analyse financial statements and reports
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent writing and strong computer skills in Ms Excel, Ms Office and Database software.
