Senior Program Officer (Youth) Job - National Aids Control Council (NACC) Career Opportunity


The National Aids Control Council (NACC) is mandated to provide a strategic framework to coordinate stakeholders in the implementation of the national multi-sectoral response to HIV and AIDS in Kenya.

In order to strengthen capacity to accomplish its mandate, NACC in conjunction with USAID supported Capacity Kenya Project is seeking to recruit a suitable and motivated individual to fill the following key position.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Policy, Coordination and


Support, this position will provide strategic and technical point for all youth related HIV and AIDS program issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Empowering the youth through capacity building in order to participate effectively in the national HIV and AIDS response.
  • Support the development of national HIV and AIDS strategic policies and guidelines that focus on youth outreach programs.
  • Coordinate the development of key strategic documents in consultation with the youth
  • Coordinate youth HIV prevention initiatives and engage the youth in national HIV and AIDs response
  • Building partnership with and among Youth Serving Organizations (YSOs).
  • Align public and non-state agencies in having focused programs in response to the KNASP 3.
  • Sensitizing and mobilizing all sectors to provide comprehensive HIV prevention packages to the youth
  • Ensure access to friendly HIV, sexual and reproductive health services and information among the youth
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to articulate their expectations in matters pertaining to youth in Kenya

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences from a recognized university. A relevant master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years working experience in HIV and AIDS programming including participation in sexual and reproductive health programs.
  • Experience in managing youth program at a national level
  • Demonstrated community mobilization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams including a practical understanding of team dynamics in an emergency situation
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of HIV prevention program
  • Good communicator, team player with good organizational skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge on key computer applications
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and deliver on agreed timelines
