Poverty Eradication Network (PEN) Vacancy Announcement: CSO Project Assistant

Poverty Eradication Network (PEN) is a Kenyan NGO with a mission to contribute towards eradication of poverty through building institutional capacity of Civil Society Organizations. 

PEN believes that strong Community Based Organisations (CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are basic requirements for sustainable development with long term impact upon poverty in Kenya. 

PEN operates by establishing partnership relationships with selected institutions and communities, with whom we conduct participatory assessments, produce an organizational development plan and undertake mutually agreed interventions; with the objective of assisting each institution to become more effective, efficient and sustainable.

PEN seeks to recruit a
 CSO Project Assistant who will be

reporting to the CSO Capacity Building Manager and will be based in Nairobi.

Major Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Support the CSO Capacity Building Manager and programme team in day to day implementation of the CSO programme;
  2. Support the CSO Capacity Building Manager and the programme team in the development of OD training materials/Manuals;
  3. Taking periodical stocks of resource materials and giving recommendations;
  4. Organize CSO organizational development (OD) workshops and seminars for participating partner organizations;
  5. In collaboration with the Administration Officer, prepare logistics for the successful workshops and seminars under the department;
  6. Participate in PEN training activities for CSOs;
  7. Provide support to the programme team in areas of field visits, and managing the OD plans;
  8. Participate in research on CSO capacity building approaches and models, and advice on best practices that can be adopted/adapted for CSO programme;
  9. Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans as required from time to time;
  10. Play a lead role in appropriate data collection, analysis, documentation and dissemination
  11. Edit and review programme reports and take part in the preparation of monthly and quarterly progress reports
  12. Support the programme team in the development of programme databases
  13. Any other programme related duties as assigned by CSO Capacity Building Manager.
Qualifications and experience 
  • At least a first degree in development studies or social sciences,
  • At least two years experience working in the civil society sector. You will have an added advantage if you are familiar with capacity building for non-profit actors
  • Good grasp of project planning, monitoring and evaluation of development programmes
  • Strong in documentation and report writing skills
  • Computer literate
  • Team player
