Job Purpose
The Manufacturing Manager is a senior member of the leadership team who controls the scheduling of crude oil delivery, blending and delivery of products, operation of the process plants and laboratory functions at the Kenya Petroleum Refineries Ltd.
The role also provides process engineering technical support to the organization.

The role also provides process engineering technical support to the organization.
Nature and Scope
The roles and responsibilities of the departments within
- Process Operations department is responsible for the safe and reliable conversion of crude oil into products.
- Hydrocarbons and scheduling department is responsible coordination and receipt of crude oil, blending and delivery of products to customers.
- Technology department is responsible for provision of process engineering and project development advice, together with short and long term process masterplanning.
- Laboratory department is responsible for provision of analytical testing services for plant streams, finished products and third-party samples.
Principal Accountabilities
- Participates in the development of the Health, Safety and Environment (H5E) Management System, procedures, annual targets, audits and reviews to ensure that the overall HSE objectives are met.
- Manages the incident investigations process including leading investigations of incidents to ensure that root causes are established and that the company learns from incidents, both internal and external.
- Controls resources to enable safe, cost effective and reliable crude oil delivery, processing and delivery of quality products to meet customer requirements.
- Champions the management of process safety, emergency response capability and Permit to Work activities for the company.
- Carries out technical consultations with Essar consultants to ensure optimal resolution of technical problems, capturing best practices and enable continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
The successful candidate will be a Chemical or Mechanical Engineering graduate with at least fifteen years working experience in technology, process operations, maintenance, management of turnarounds, operational reliability, projects or similar roles within refinery sites or consultant groups, including a significant period at a department head level with people and budgetary responsibilities.
Additionally, the candidate will have an in depth knowledge and experience hydrocarbon, oil processing and HSE management systems. Experience in inter-agency emergency response management will be an added advantage.
