International Centre for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) - Kenya of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and the Ministry of Medical Services to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services at provincial and district health facilities.

This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Applications are invited for the following positions.

PMTCT District Coordinators (6)
Location:
Central Province

The Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) District Coordinators will oversee the day-to-day planning and implementation of PMTCT activities within ICAP-supported facilities in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation.

S/he will supervise Nurse Counselors providing PMTCT services at the ICAP-supported facilities within the district and will report to the PMTCT Advisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support and supervision of the district PMTCT Program as per national guidelines
  • Assist with training of health care workers using the national PMTCT curriculum
  • Strengthen referrals and linkages between PMTCT activities and the Comprehensive Care Clinics
  • Oversee Early Infant diagnosis, care and follow-up of HIV-exposed infants
  • Strengthen linkages between PMTCT, follow-up of HIV-exposed infants (HEI) and Comprehensive Care Clinics
  • Assist in the implementation of the monitoring and evaluation for PMTCT and HEI
  • Participate in district PMTCT meetings

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Trainer of Trainers in PMTCT and Early Infant Diagnosis
  • More than 3 years experience in the implementation of PMTCT activities
  • Experience in training and mentorship of health care workers on PMTCT

Program Officer

Location:
Nyeri, with upto 80% of travel within Central Province

The Program Officer will plan and implement the day-to-day implementation of HIV prevention, care and treatment services at ICAP-supported facilities, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementation of prevention, care and treatment services at ICAP-supported facilities
  • Provide on-going supervision of prevention, care and treatment programs Co-ordinate training of facility staff including ART mentorship
  • Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement of HIV programs
  • Assist in program monitoring and evaluation
  • Liaise with the Ministries of Health officials including the Provincial ART Officer and other stakeholders
  • Preparation of budgets, work plans, reports and other technical papers

Minimum Requirements:

  • MD
  • 3+ years experience in program planning
  • Experience with HIV/AIDS programmingFamiliarity with district-level health care programs in Kenya
  • Clinical experience in HIV management
  • Strong supervisory and management skills

Adherence and Psychosocial Support Advisor
Location:
Nairobi

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the APS Advisor will provide leadership and technical support in the planning and implementation of adherence and psychosocial support activities within ICAP-supported facilities in collaboration with the Ministries of Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of an adherence and psychosocial support package.
  • Oversee training of HCW and PLHIV in adherence support using the national training curriculum
  • Oversee the Peer Education Program
  • Strengthen HIV community mobilization activities and linkages with community-based organizations
  • Assist in defaulter tracing
  • Provide technical assistance in adherence at national level

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 year’s relevant experience
  • Familiarity with district-level health systems
  • Familiarity with HIV community programs including Peer Education

Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Officer
Location:
Nairobi, Kenya

Reporting to the Implementation Advisor, the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Officer will oversee Quality Assessment and Quality Improvement at ICAP-supported sites in collaboration with the Ministries of Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Quality Assessment/Quality Improvement team in collaboration with the Ministries of Health
  • Perform QA/QI assessment at ICAP-supported facilities

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Public/International health or related discipline
  • Experience in the design and implementation of health systems
  • Strong data management and analysis skills
