Director of Finance and Administration - Infectious Diseases Institute Jobs in Uganda


IDI is seeking a highly experienced Director of Finance and Administration commencing in September 2010.

IDI opened as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Makerere University in June 2005; established as a centre of excellence to build capacity of health systems in Africa for the delivery of sustainable, high quality care and prevention for HIV/AIDS and related infections through training, research and advanced clinical services.

Since 2005 IDI has quadrupled in size, to an annual budget of $20 million and 700 staff.

IDI is now entering the next phase of its development and requires a highly skilled Director of Finance and Administration to support its

rapid growth.

Working closely with IDI’s key funding partner, Accordia Global Health Foundation, the DFA will also oversee a major capital expansion to support the growth of distance learning programs.

The ideal candidate will be fully ACCA qualified, with a degree in business administration. Fifteen years of progressive experience should include 5 years at senior management level and extensive experience working in a non — profit NGO with multiple resource streams.

Key functional experience should include Financial management including internal audit, Human resource management, oversight of capital expansion and extensive field-based service delivery. Experience in health care, education, medical research and / or laboratory services is highly desirable.
